To all of you well-dressed gents in Brisbane, Australia - a few SF members are planning an evening get together in the next few weeks.

The plan, thus far, is to meet after work on a Thursday or a Friday for a few drinks and then to have dinner. October 6th or 7th or 13th or 14th are potential dates.

We will most likely meet either in the city or in Fortitude Valley. I'm leaning towards Wagaya, a Japanese izakaya, as a dinner location as we can book a private room there, the food is good, the drinks are good and it is not too expensive.

What do others think?

I look forward to meeting up with some more Brisbane SF members!

In. The dinner locations sounds good to me, I'd also mention that the option to BYO wine is very appreciated -- Although not so much for Japanese.

Wagaya is definitely a winner!

A Friday would be preferable

Well, hopefully this will only be the first of many such meet-ups so if you can't make it along to this one, I hope that we'll see you at a future get-together.

By the way, any suggestions for possible future venues will be gratefully received!

I'm keen to attend, I won't be as splendidly dressed as you all as I don't have many occasions to wear jacketa or suits but if weather permits I might have to work something out. Looking forward to meeting you all.

@Naka - Great! Look forward to seeing you there.

Well, looking at the poll results, the majority favours dinner on Friday, 07 October.

From responses I've received, it look as though there should be a reasonable group of us there, with seven or eight attendees and perhaps more.

I'll make a booking at Wagaya and will post further concerning a time to meet and a possible location for pre-dinner drinks.

I would love to come along. However, I'm fairly apprehensive because I have only recently begun to reinvent my style. In other words, I don't yet own anything that would impress any Style Forum members. I drop in on this forum every now and again, but I'm not too familiar with the community, so I'm a little worried that this might be like a high-school reunion where everybody tries to out-do each other, and I certainly don't have the artillery for that kind of battle. I guess what I'm asking is, will I be mocked for not wearing $500 shoes, or is this a fairly casual meet-up where dark-blue jeans are acceptable attire? Honesty, please.

The only jacket I own that fits me is fairly short and has super slim lapels, and if it's cool enough temperature wise I'll be wearing that and some slim dark jeans. We can be scrubs together! I'm sure the blokes aren't going to be snobby about it, they're decent guys from what I've seen.

JB,

Need not worry about us. We're harmless. I wont judge you. Im sure the others wont.

I think most of wont be wearing $500.00 shoes anyway at least not technically. Maybe they retailed for $500.00 but they ended up buying them at a steep discount.

I don't think I'll wear a suit. However I might wear a blazer or sportscoat.

I think the most important thing is the company and that we will be meeting with liked minded people. People who want to wear better clothes, and those who want to evolve stylistically.

I've been a member of this forum for a number of years and I dont think I my wardrobe is 100% to where I want it yet as my preferences have changed slightly or become more refined over this period of time.

Be great to see you on Friday along with everyone else.

Gents,

I've reserved a private room at Wagaya for 6pm Friday 07 October (this Friday).

The reservation is in the name of James.

Hope to see you all there and you're very welcome to wear jeans!
