Which Army Fatigue Jacket Would You Keep?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I have been in search of an Army Fatigue Jacket to wear this fall/winter (I live in Dallas so I can get away with it for most of the fall and winter). I recently bought two jackets. (See pics of me wearing them.)

The one on the left is from Banana Republic for $64 on sale. Its a lighter green, made of a softer cotton, is not bulky at all and is machine washable.

The one on the right is from J. Crew for $168.00. Its bigger, made of a heavier cotton material (I think they say its reverse cut for a rougher feel), its also longer and a has more interior volume (for easy layering).

The Banana Republic jacket fits like a glove and is way more comfortable. (Probably because its made of all cotton)

But the J.Crew jacket has more of a timeless look and feel.

They both have draw strings in the waist, so they can be adjusted.

Which looks better in your opinion?

The J. Crew one looks a little more authentic to my eye, which makes me like it a lot better.

BR looks cleaner and nicer. The hell with "authentic" (IMHO) -- the J.Crew has way too much of that "crinkly seam" effect going on (I've never known whether there's a word for it but I hate it) and you said the BR fits better and is more comfortable. The fact that it was cheaper, i.e. more money if you can still return the other one, is just icing on the cake.

I think the J Crew one looks way better.....the BR one just looks sort of cheap and generic to my eye. Yeah, the J Crew has that somewhat overly broken in look, but on a military style jacket like this I kind of like that. I have this jacket myself and while I'm looking for a higher quality replacement for it I haven't found anything to fill it's spot yet so I just keep wearing it. I've even waxed mine with some Fjallraven wax to help make it a little more waterproof for those wet days.

I like the Jcrew one a little better because of the worn in look. But hey, just wear the hell out of the BR jacket and see if you can make it look nice and worn in.
