exactly. Look how stupid that looks.

it doesn't look stupid and you saying that is your opinion. the fact still remains that OP was asking about wearing his suit according to the TB aesthetic and what you posted was inaccurate. don't be mad, we are all wrong sometimes.

Boots would not fix or redeem pants like this.

Beat me to it!

I appreciate the general TB look as much as the next guy but sometimes it gets taken to the extreme and looks ludicrous.

alright this thread is getting out of control. I asked haters to not comment. I don't like Thom Browne because his line is "fashion". I honestly like it because I hate wearing socks and belts. Pants should fit without an aid to cinch them to your body. I like the 1950s slim aesthetic with the higher waisted pants and skinnier lapels. I like that the shirt and tie combos for the most part can be worn plain. thanks to everyone who gave their advice.

Thom Clowne is not 1950's slim, it goes way beyond that. His stuff is insanely tight and short to the point of comic ridiculousness.

I daresay Peewee looks a lot better than Thom Browne does.

Thom Browne's (enormous) problem has nothing to do with "slim" -- I like "slim" (pants, lapels, you name it) at least as much as the next guy. And while I hate high-rise pants, they're absolutely doable.

His problem is that he crops the hell out of everything. Sleeves so short you can practically tan your elbows, jackets that barely cover your waist to say nothing of your butt, and pants so short they look like capris, which are one of the worst style crimes in existence as far as I'm concerned. The picture I quoted above on this very page is nothing short of godawful.

TB pants at least I think you can buy unhemmed and then alter to the proper length. But none of that explains why you think that non-TB pants require "an aid to cinch them to your body" -- that makes absolutely no sense: if you can find TB pants with a waist of X inches (in order to forego the belt), you can find a million other brands' pants with the same waist. And Dior Homme, among others, was doing super-slim cuts (incl. nice trousers) long before Mr. Browne arrived on the scene.

I have a question about TB, did he start this 'style' to combat the really loose fitting suits and clothes that were all the rage a few years ago? There was a thread on here showing GQ covers in the 90's and everyone commented about how big and boxy everything looked. Did Browne do these ridiculous designs to signify slimmer fits should be the way to go and not really to say THAT was the look people should go for?

I've never really understood the high waters and everything looking like Chris Farley in David Spade's jacket look

BBBF is fashion, too; in fact, it's 2007 fashion, and its day has passed. confused.gif

It would look no less stupid with boots.
