How to wear Thom Browne/Black Fleece?

I just purchased a BBBF solid gray wool suit and want to go about altering it for the TB look. I love the short pants look, but am unsure where they are supposed to sit on the waist. The rise is 12". I am 5'9" and am just wondering how close to my belly button the pants are supposed to sit. Also, I like to show the cuff of my shirts and I plan on altering the length, but should I taper the sleeves? The jacket comes with functional buttons and actually like that the sleeve ends are a little loose. I will be wearing TB OCBDs and ties with the suit. Any and all suggestiions are appreciated. TB haters need not comment! Thanks!

I too like the TB look but in moderation. it sounds like you are going for the whole shabang. what is your weight, body type? too like the TB look but in moderation. it sounds like you are going for the whole shabang. what is your weight, body type?

I'm a little under 180, proportionate, slightly athletic build. I wear TB3 in the OCBD, fits perfect. The suit is sz. BB2, the jacket fits perfect. I wear jean sz. 32-33 and the pants are a little tight(but I could button them), with quite some room to let out. Hope this helps.

I had seen TB himself where his pants at the belly button and if you look at the models on he website, the pants sit above he waist and just below the belly button. post pics of you in the suit. you'll get some snark but you'll get better feedback from those interested in giving feedback

I noticed that the models always have boots on with the high pants. I think it's required, otherwise it looks even sillier.

+1. it looks much better with a boot. most of my pants are hemmed shorter than average and I never dare to wear a shoe. boot only

12" is a pretty long rise, so it sounds like they're meant to be worn quite high.

12" is a high rise so closer to your natural waist is likely the place to wear them, just under the belly button; go as high as you can without causing pulling/crushing in the crotch when you sit down. In terms of length of sleeves and pants I'd say you could achieve the true TB look by hemming your pants 1" shorter than no break and sleeves half inch shorter than average (i.e. showing 1" to .75" off cuff).

Didn't know people are still going for the Thom Browne look at this day and age. Call the manhattan flag store and ask them where to wear the waist.

not at all. your point was saying that the TB aesthetic requires boots.
