I'm just starting out building my professional wardrobe. I currently have two tailored suits, a handful of tailored shirts, and a couple pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. I've very happy with what I've acquired so far, but I'm stumped on what colour my third suit should be.

My current suits are a 2-piece, solid navy and a 3-piece, solid medium gray (although I also have an off the rack black suit I hope to never wear again).

I'm a public servant, so I could get away with any colour - I don't need to stick with anything too conservative. Right now I'm wavering between a light gray suit and a dark blue pinstripe. I'd love both, but the light gray is a bit more casual, and could more easily be used for going out in the evening.

I'd appreciate some feedback. If you have a better suggestion than other of mine, please let me know!

Thanks.

Charcoal (depends on the shade of the mid-grey suit)

If you want something more for going out, then PoW suit without overcheck.

Light grey seems to be more versatile for you purposes. So nothing wrong with buying this.

I'm sure you meant Allen Edmonds.

Welcome to Styleforum.

Yes, I did. I was not referring to some cheap knock-off version of AE smile.gif

And thanks for the welcome.

I'm new here too, and in a similar situation.  I started with one navy and one charcoal gray.  ( I already had a black suit that i take out to funerals as infrequently as possible).  I have a fourth suit that is a little odd in that it is a Navy/taupe micro check that tends to look like drywall putty at a distance.  I figured at the very low price I purchased it for, I couldn't go wrong.  I've worn it once in a year and a half.  So my only advise would be not to do that...

Navy pinstripe all the way.

I think a navy pinstripe will round up your wardrobe.
