Help Me Pick Staple Knit Ties! Bought a bunch!!

Got these for about $20 each, they're by Polo RL, made in Italy.

233

I have a silk knit blue already. I needed a burgundy, and bought it. I figured that I'd get a couple others as well. I need help deciding between the 3rd and 4th one. The 3rd is more of a dijon mustard yellow and the 4th is more of a taupe sand.

Here's the tricky part, the #4 has no back tag, where the back of the tie gets inserted to... so it might be flying around when I'm wearing it.

Also I have another knit tie the same color as tie #3, which is NOT silk knit. And is not a square bottom, but a V bottom. These are all square bottoms.

There's also a forest green, without the back tag... so I placed it away, even though it was really nice.

What is your query? You have several ties. Why is that a problem?

I'm not going to keep #3 and #4. I need to decide between the two; they are too similar in color for me to justify keeping both.

That's quite cheap for so many ties; or were they $20 apiece?

The lack of a keeper is not a problem if it's inside your jacket and the discerning gentleman (according to Will Boelhke anyway) pins such a tie with a gold pin.

At twenty dollars a pop? Send me whichever one you don't want.

They're $20 per tie sorry.

With the keper (back tag) aside, which one is more versatile #3 or #4?

Light ties pretty much always look awkward. I would have gone with neither, and gotten the green instead.

For the record, none of my knits have or ever had keepers. That shouldn't be an obstacle. If you really have a problem, use a tie pin or a tie bar.

The yellow one is uglier. And if your tie doesn't have a keeper, wear a tie clip.

If anyone is interested, I can let go for #3 or #4 whichever I decide on, for $30 shipped CONUS.

And more opinions are welcomed too icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Honestly, there's hardly a problem. You have a selection of ties and you can use them all according to what colours and cloths you are wearing. The staple colours are known: dark blue and burgundy, you have these. The forest green was worth getting, it doesn't matter that the end wasn't square, there's nothing wrong with knit ties with pointed blades.

+1. Of the two, would consider the yellow more versatile.
