Winter Gloves and Winter Hat: Your "best in class & totally worth every penny" keepers ...

Are there "best in class" higher end gloves and hats that are "totally worth every penny" to you? I am looking to spend some money and upgrade both these items for this winter, SF style. Anyone who knows me here knows that I can spend big, but only if I see value. I do not play the designer logo game, and I am acutely aware of diminishing returns (and overpaying) Is it worth spending more for winter hats and winter gloves? If so, can you post links?

Again, I don't want standard $10 stuff that is just marked up to $50 b/c they're being sold under a well known brand. Paying more just to pay more is dumb. It's gotta either have some real style points, or be made like nothing else, or I will gladly stick to $5 gloves and hat if nothing is compelling, (or is just a flagrant designer ripoff) or if hat/gloves are just not the segment to spend extra money for quality.

Think $300 for a Hudson's Bay Company wool blanket that is 8lbs heavy. Think $800 for shell cordovan that will last for years, etc.

Thanks!

I like these locally made fur hats - http://www.shekhmanfurs.com/Pages/MaleFurHats.htm - you can find similar for a lot more $$ obviously, so these are worth it and they're a great value (if you're not against fur). They are very warm and the fur is really soft and smooth so it won't mess up your "do" too much as you put it on and take it off.

My favorite is the red fox bomber:

You may want to stay away from the more exotic styles though...

Gloves are laughably outdated. Everyone knows global warming is happening.

Bump. Can't believe SF isn't good for one decent idea.

I got some discounted RLPL leather gloves with cashmere lining off of B&S and are very happy with them. Very nice leather and construction IMHO.

I can't recommend these enough - Rapha "Town Gloves" (http://www.rapha.cc/leather-town-gloves-1):

I got a pair of both the gray/black and dark brown/black at end of season last year and absolutely love them - you can see and feel the workmanship and quality . They fit so well you'll feel like a super hero, a sniper, or a hit man when you put them on - they're like a second skin. Note that the dark brown/black are apparently not available this year and have been replaced by a tan colored version.

I'll also add that I had an excellent experience with their customer service - since they are made by hand there are variations in the sizing. One pair was just slightly too small - they replaced it no questions asked and the replacement pair fit perfectly.

HBC and quality mentioned in the same posting. It's 1680 all over again. All the Rosedale Matrons are wondering what will come next.
