Belt loops not cenetered on fly

I've noticed something recently that never really caught my eye before. Most dress pants I find have belt loops on the front that are not centered on the fly. At first I thought they were all defective pants, but looking at photos online I see that it is common to have the belt buckle slightly off center in relation to the fly, but centered on the loops. What is the reason for this? I need somebody to tell me the functional purpose so I can "unsee" it. Thanks.

I believe the idea is to hold the end of your belt, similar in function to what a keeper on a belt would do. So if your belt has a keeper then it would be a redundant, and I feel they even conflict as they overlap.

I've removed the keeper on my dress belts, but on the belts I were with jeans, I don't, so I do find it a minor annoyance.
