Agreed. No contest.

Many years ago I used to work in Zurich. I really wish I could have traveled more while I was there. I'll have to plan a trip to Budapest and eastern Europe once I retire in another few years.

Budapest is a lovely city. Visit and buy some shoes. I picked up a pair when I was there and then ordered my second pair over email with the shop directly. I met a friend while in Budapest so I was able to wire her cash to receive the 10% discount in store and have her ship them to me for $75 instead of $125+.

a friend of mine uses this store in vienna. give'em a call and see what they can do for you.

they are doing vass for several years now.

"homepage im aufbau" - big surprise.

*waiting for the euro ehaberdasher store...

+1 on the not buying such shoes without having tried them on

you're welcome. not to derail this thread completely. a narrow heel is one of the characteristics of the austro-hungarian lasts. so you can also look for ludwig reiter or handmacher. both brands are represented in switzerland. handmacher is a mto operation and lr offers customized shoes either for a small upcharge.

hm has a slightly lower price point. lr is in the ballpark of vash. good luck.

if, i were in your shoes. visit budapest, you won't regret it.

But that's another story.

definitely. imo, it's time to put it six feet under. no offense.

btw, the inability of some to determine their size and last is a complete different story to me. vash offers a wide range of lasts and from my humble point of view their different lasts compensate the lack of different widths. one has just to accept that not every last is for everyone and you're good to go.

again my vote for going to budapest.

I doubtanyone would argue that going to Budapest makes the most sense. I'd love to. Let's be honest, I don't think we all have the time and money to take a trip in order to get proper sizing for future pairs of shoes.

I will order F last from Vass, it's true that maybe Vass fit is not for me but for size i guess it should be also UK 9. I contacted the guy and he suggested 9. So size is 9 but fit will be or won't be good i am not sure but i guess it's hard for me to find a shoes that fit perfectly because i have very narrow feet close to heel. So this is the best i can do, unless i decide to go for a bespoke.

Good choice, and I would also heed the reccomendation for accomodation. It is a lovely hotel.

The cash discount is 15% not 10%. Vass takes orders over internet without pre-payment if you travel to pick your shoes up or use proxy agent. They screwed up one pair and thus shipping them for free. Good service, good people.
The sizes are 1/2 size larger than 2 years ago. They changed their lasts and every size became wider and an inch longer. So if you were ordering 41 2-3 years ago today you would have to order 40.5 and in my case narrow instead of regular.
As someone posted before, lasts get destroyed during shoemaking process and need to be replaced once in a while , thus the size variance is in play.

This is the first I heard of this. Have been ordering shoes from them for a couple of years, now I am a bit worried about my next order. Can anyone confirm?
