Type of shoes for slim pants?

From GAP, I bought a straight cut, tailored black khaki trousers. They are not skinny, but they are slim (at least when compared to the rest of my pants in my wardrobe).

I definatly like this look and plan to start buying slimmer/better fitting pants/jeans etc from now on.

One thing i noticed when looking in the mirror was that the pants made my shoes/feet look huge.

What do yout think are the appropriate and best looking shoes for these types of pants? Shoes for occasions such as going out and having fun stuff.

From what i have gathered from googling this, boat shoes and Converse All-Stars seemed to be popular. What are your opinions?

im in my early 20s, im 6'2 and my shoe size is 12 (so long slim legs and big feet)

my shoes:

thanks for any input (:

there is no remedy for this unless you wear pants with a slighter bigger hem or try chuck taylors but they don't go with everything. maybe you can just be like me and embrace it lol.

I would think, visually, that high tops like Chuck Taylors would make the foot shape appear more gradually, so that might lessen the effect.

I have the same issue you do. 6'1" and very very slender with a size 12 shoe as well. High tops will help smooth the profile of your foot and make it look like less of a stark 90° transition. Consider a shoe with a slimmer profile too, i.e. a penny loafer or Sperrys (getting too cold to wear sockless though, and they are not to be worn with socks). Most sneakers won't cut it, unfortunately. You may have to go to the Men's Clothing forum *gasp* for some casual shoe suggestions.

I can post pics if it'll help you.

Shoes with a sleek profile are the way to go.

You might want to have a look at Jack Purcells.... Similar to Converse All stars, but a little more mature and versatile, in my opinion.

Of course, you may be starting to figure this out already, but.... generally speaking the smaller the hem, the shorter the break (length of pants), so the wider the hem, the longer the break. There are many exceptions to the "rule," of course, but this is a good starting point.

On a related note, the skinnier the hem, the more "sleek" your shoes should be in relationship. Conversely, wider hemmed pants generally look better with shoes of some substance.

The reason why you might be thrown off is because of your shoe choice, not neccesarily your frame and build.

CP's. Expensive but gets the job done.

I generally wear slim pants (both casually and professionally) and have a similar build to you. As mentioned above, the thinner the opening, the less 'chunky' the foot should be. Avoid things like strong-heeled boots, many styles of Clarks, or thick loafers. Casually, I usually go plimsols or a low-top (like Converse), but it's also a great time to show off and accentuate great or playful shoe choices too (coordinating with bold sock colors or double monks, for example), as the length and break of the trouser can draw attention to the feet if done minimally.

i just bought a pair of slim shoes. they are Vans, similar to the low cut converse. all black.

they really make my foot look less clunky (especially when compared to my addidas sneakers)

il save the loafers for when i have to dress more upscale ;)
