Quick Qu: Mac - TV connection help

Not exactly known for my early adopter personality, I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding connecting some equipment... Any takers?

Basically, I just want to watch movies routed through my 15' Mac laptop to a (new) tv.

Before getting a new tv, what input/outputs are necessary and what cables.

I have an Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adaptor from a previous iBook.

Depends on the inputs on the TV. HDMI is the cost common connection. I'd get a WD TV Live unit for $80 and save myself the trouble of converters/adapters you'll probably need with your laptop.
