On a somewhat related note, is there ever any chance of black on black 301s again? The 9301s (if that's the correct number) are my favorite black jeans ever, but I got too fat for my pair. Constantly saddened by the sight of them in my closet.

Roy "Big Brother" Round Two Jeans

Roy Slaper is back at it with a new jean made of a newly developed denim.

The new version of the Big Brother jean is a tweaked Big Bro fit with slightly more taper to the leg. Also, this version of the Big Bro has a plain back (no buckle-back).

The denim on these jeans is an all new 13.5oz loomstate denim which Roy designed from the ground up. Cone did not have or could not produce the selvedge id thread color so Roy had another company manufacture just the single thread that goes through the selvedge line and had the thread shipped to Cone to use on his denim. The warp yarns are made of a conventional American cotton while the weft is made of Supima cotton giving the fill threads an off-white caste. Supima is a longer staple cotton so we're thinking it will be less prone to stretching out and knee bagging.

The fabric for the pocket bags were also custom designed and produced for this jean. They're an undyed (natural) ring-ring 3x1 twill that is loomstate and will be cut in a way where it shrinks with the jean. The pocket bags are a 10oz 3x1 cotton twill which is 100% ring spun, undyed, and unsanforized.

We're really in love with the rear pocket shape, the exposed 2-prong tack and washer rivets, and the fabric. We don't believe we've seen a denim with this much character come out of Cone Mills before, the weave pattern is very unique and so is the shade of indigo.

These jeans will go on sale at Noon (local time) at all four Self Edge stores on Saturday, January 10th and at 9am (PST) in our online store on the same day.

Check the product page for full measurements, a full spec list, more info, and high-res photographs.

Everything is marked down 40% to 80% off the original retail price. We've partnered wth our good friends from Que Pasa Shop (@quepasashop) Portland to sell everything for us. All items will be shipped from Portland, so regardless of where you are there will be no sales tax. We will have over 500 items listed for sale, it's quite a bit of product going back to the beginning of Self Edge; some things make us nostalgic for the early items we used to sell. We will be reducing the prices of whatever is left from the sale every 7 to 10 days until everything is gone.

Iron Heart 18oz Indigo/Indigo Denim Jeans

Iron Heart has just hit us with a new denim, an 18oz Japanese selvedge denim where both the warp and weft are indigo dyed. This creates a super dark blue jean which will have some fairly wild looking fading due to the indigo saturated look of the denim. This new denim is available in both a straight leg and slim cut fit.

Along with these new jeans we've received a full restock of all other Iron Hearts jeans currently in production including the 301s slim tapered jean, the 633s straight tapered jean, 9634 straight leg super black, and of course their entire selection of denim jackets and vests.

I agree. Though admittedly the same criticism could be made toward us worrying about denim fades and discussing them w/ likeminded individuals in our 30's (which I am). I couldnt afford it in my 20's so Im making up for lost time.

John Lofgren's Made in Japan Champion Sneakers

John Lofgren footwear needs no introduction. In the span of a few short years, John Lofgren's engineer boots have become the gold standard for boot aficionados. Now he brings his footwear passion and love of vintage style to the classic sneaker.

Lofgren's new low top sneakers are, of course, fully hand-made in Japan. They're vulcanized at one of Japan's last remaining factories still committed to this process and made from 100% cotton woven in Japan. But it's only when you pick them up, or more importantly put them on your feet, that you'll find what truly sets them apart. Feel that extra heft, that extra cushion. Double soles, a feature rarely seen on sneakers now, make these some of the most comfortable sneaker available. And the bar keeps rising...taped seams, metal eyelets and vents, double stitched stress points, full sponge insoles, reinforced heel and toe cups. A new gold standard for the classic sneaker.

@kiya how do you recommend sizing? For instance if I'm 8.5 Brannock and 8 on Alden Barrie. I can provide more data points if needed

Hi Kiya,

Bought the IH-666 SII

Would you recommend a soak in cold/warm water before 1st wear?

As it is when trying on in the store it fits snug.

I'm digging the lone wolf boots.

You bought these at Self Edge in-store? How much room did you have in the waist when you bought them?

Yes, i love those new Sweeper boots. Funny how that style of boot has been around for ages, and Lone Wolf has been producing them for many years. They're now pretty hot in terms of the styling of the last and sole.

Yes i bought it in the SF store.

Front part of the waist fits snug with almost no room.

Which was what Young (who helped me) recommended it should fit.

Does that sound about right?
