- What is the leather patch on the SExFHxRJB15 made of? I couldn't find that information anywhere I looked and I can't tell from looking at it.
- On that same pair, I'm curious about sizing. There are 28s and 30s in stock but no 29. My true waist measures 29", but I'm exactly 30" where I wear my jeans. I don't really have any other jeans for reference. I'm thinking a 29 would be perfect, but as things stand I'm not sure which available size would be better (if either is viable). I've had waists over-stretch on me before and it's disappointing, but I also down't want to suffocate. The thighs on both sizes will be fine. Also important is that I'm still growing slightly (I'm 17), so maybe better to err on the larger side. I could also cold soak a size 28/wear it when it's wet/etc... I'll do whatever you recommend.

- My second option is the indigo SExI14. First question is whether the fabric is exclusive to that pair or if it's identical to what was used in the SExI08. They sound similar but the 14 looks a lot more irregular to me.
- Second is again sizing, but I think a 29 will work. Thighs might be a little snug but otherwise I'm optimistic. Again I'll follow your recommendation.

Finally, which of the two pairs do you personally prefer? They satisfy all my preferences, each have a lot of interesting stuff in their favor, and there isn't really a specific aspect that would elevate one over the other for me, so I'd be curious which you just like more. I should admit I'm considering a third, non-SE pair, the Momo x Context 0701 113XX (here: http://www.contextclothing.com/item.php?id=3288
). If you're not comfortable saying anything I understand, but if anyone wants to sell me on one of the two SE collabs over the Momos, I'd appreciate it. Anything to help me make a decision.

I know this is a lot, and I'm still not 100% sure I'll be buying anything this weekend, so I don't want to lead you on, for lack of a better term. Thanks in advance for any help and information. I really appreciate all the time you put in on here and Sufu helping people out. And thanks anyone who isn't Kiya as well. Cheers!

The SEXFH patch is made of deer skin. I would definitely go for the 30, these run smaller than your normal jean and they shrink quite a bit when soaked too.

The denim between the SEXI14 and SEXi08 are completely different, the 14 denim feels a lot more like Strike Gold's fabric, its quite abrasive when new. You'd be a 30 in those too.
They're both great jeans, its all a matter of what details you like better, and the SEXI14 is definitely a simmer fit.

It has been four years since we opened our New York City location and with the remodel that our SF store went through last year SENY was feeling a bit jealous. Thanks a lot Kiya! Given what you said on sizing I think I'll go with the SExFHxRJB, since they're available in a 30 and the others aren't. I haven't seen many worn pairs online, so I'm excited to make the leap and see what awaits. I also love that I can wear them year round. Cheers

Just reloaded the online store with a restock of some past season shirts from every brand we carry.

Hi Kiya,

This is a general denim question, but how viable is it to have the legs tapered? And if it is, what are the options in NYC?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

We do not taper jeans at any of our stores, i suggest finding a good local tailor to do the work.

Legs can typically be tapered at the inseam (overlock seam), but not on the selvedge outseam (felled seam).  I sent my jeans to Railcar in Arcadia, CA, but I've also heard Denim Therapy in NY and Denim Doctor in the UK do a good job.

I second this - Railcar did a fantastic job on my Momo's (inseam and outseam). Oh, and Silly, I just picked up the SExFHxRJB15's as well, in the same size. It sounds like I'm the exact same size as you. It'd be interesting to compare notes on soak/shrinkage/etc.

Turns out I'm actually waiting for a little while before buying. Some things came up so it'll be a few months at least. Those are still at the top of my list though and if you were to post a review/pics in here or one of their brand threads I'd definitely check it out.

Edit: Kiya, I don't know if it's typical to release this information, but I'm curious how much the sale increased purchases, especially since they happen fairly infrequently.

Purchases skyrocket because we only do the sale once or twice a year and its only for 72 hours.

Man, I am going to have to kill my CPA. I would have been on a massive spree if he hadn't messed up our tax situation so badly...

Flat Head & Real Japan Blues Shirts and 105BSP Jean

We've just received a few new shirts from Flat Head and Real Japan Blues, a restock of the popular 105BSP jean from RJB, and a slew of other items from both brands.

First up we've received an amazing rayon shirt from Flat Head from their Black Mint collection. Nobody gets rayon feeling like Flat Head does, its soft and light and breaks in to become almost like a super soft cotton shirt.

Next up we have one of their triple-stitched collar heavyweight t-shirts in a design we've been asking them to make for years. Its a basic Flat Head logo and motto tee done in navy and black.

We also have this year's version of the RJB Diamond Ombre shirt, the pattern is deep and the fabric is soft and light. These go quick every year for a good reason.

The 105BSP from RJB has been out of stock for over a year now, we had RJB do a new run for us with the same denim from our SEXFHXRJB15 jean. Its a 14oz denim in a straight leg fit with lined back pockets and denim felled front pocket bag openings. A great jean all around.

We've also received full restocks of the F310, SE05BSP, 3009, 3005 (at SELA), women's Balder jean, key-hooks, key-rings, wallets, bracelets, and sneakers. Check the online store for more info, photos, and spec lists.
