Funny you should say that, the 6x6 denim by Skull is unreal, and is far better than 95% of the other denim even talked about across denim boards in terms of durability, aging, and weave pattern.

Yeah I've heard nothing but great things about the Skulls. I'm currently debating getting the new Flat Heads or waiting on the Skull restock...

So how would you say it compares to Flat Head denim?

The SEXFH05s I have are the nicest denim I own. I've been pondering the Skulls and my two concerns were denim quality (would I just be happier with another pair of Flat Heads in a different cut) and fit. Which, if you or anyone else has some input here, it would be helpful: is there any chance of the 34 Skulls working for someone with between a 35" and 36" waist? The measurements I've seen make me think it could go either way. (For reference, I have the SEXFH05 in 36, and I could probably take them off without unbuttoning them. I have APCs in 34, and after a few wears they feel very relaxed, not even remotely tight in the waist.)

I honestly think you'd like the 6x6 denim from Skull, the 7x6 indigo is a very different denim..
The size 34 5010 should work for you...

slight derailing but,

kiya: do you happen to know if there's any place in tokyo where you can look at raw skulls? As far as I know, their official store in harajuku only stocks one washes.

regarding waist:

i wear a 31 in washed denim. 31 or 32 in slacks, depending on brand. the only dry denim i've got is nudie AJ in 32. i don't think i could have buttoned a 31 in the AJ. the 32 is still pretty snug after 1 soak and 1 wash.

so.....what's an advisable waist size for the F380 or the 6x6?

You need a 33 in both the F380 and the 5010/6x6.

sweet. i think i'm gonna go for the F380 today. what's the story on the inseam? it's 38 so it will shrink to about 36 after a soak? is it adviseable to do the chainstitching sight unseen?

Yeah, the jeans shrink exactly how much it's stated on the product page, so feel free to get them chainstitched before soaking, just factor in the shrinking...

I believe i actually tried on the Skull 5507xx actually, my bad. It did not seem to compare in feel to FH or IH so I was comparing it against the best. The 6x6 fabric may be different.

Self Edge x Flat Head Chambray Shirts & Loopwheel T-Shirts

For those unable to make it to the Flat Head party, we're putting up the exclusive items that are only available this one time.
The "Around the World" Loopwheel T-shirt and the Self Edge & Flat Head Kiryu Embroidered Chambray Shirt.

Great designs on both of the shirts thanks to the famous Aya from Flat Head, you might remember her from the party as the girl decked out in Flat Head running around translating for the men from Flat Head and Lightning.

Both of these shirts are limited to the initial number produced and will not be remade.
They're both now available in the online store, check the product pages for more information about both shirts and what "loopwheeling" is:

Buzz Rickson USN Chambray Shirt

Starting this week we'll be stocking Buzz Rickson in our online store, the fall line is being kicked off with this new shirt from the Fall 2008 season, the Buzz Rickson US Navy repro work shirt made of indigo chambray. A great fit just like what we'd normally expect out of the Buzz Rickson line along with amazing construction.

Every original and distinctive styling feature from the 1940's has been reproduced, including true, hard-wearing chambray fabric that beautifully fades to light blue with age, reinforced shoulder yoke, dark blue selvage edges, bakelite-style dish buttons, double-stitched seams for superior strength and even authentic labeling.

Available now in our online store and in-store:
