These days, no self-respecting brand makes these.

So, your brother is about 15 years behind trend. FWIW, I never thought that this shit looked good, and I like crazy sneakers.

LA Guy,
Thanks for the history. That is exactly what I was looking for.
It seems the square toed abominations have died out, somewhat, but these bicycle shoes still seem popular.
And yes, about 10 years too late. When do they jump the shark and go out of style? Anyone's guess.
Those Sketcher's street walkers (brown leather hybrid sneaker looking things) also seem to have gone out of style.
Maybe this has taken over... Dunno, I am indoctrinated to the SF wingtip thing, so they all look like common garbage to my eyes.

Add an untucked Robert Talbott shirt with faux-distressed boot cut jeans, and you have the suburban mid-life crisis uniform of choice. Goes great with the leased 3-series.

Ug, dislike bicycle toed shoes... but it is possible to have them less obnoxious. Imagine a sleek last in a loafer or driving shoe with a bicycle toe. It's kinda ugly, but much better than those square toed atrocities.

You should see the shoes that people wear in Chile. Holy crap they're terrible. Bicycle toe and square toes are the norm. There is always extra stitching everywhere too. It is so rare to find a nice plain sleek shoe. And to make it worse, there are shoe shine guys freaking everywhere, but everyone's shoes still look like crap. Corrected grain FTL.

Exposed stitching was big for a while.
I think it still is.
I have a buttery soft lambskin jacket that has exposed stitching.
I plan to wear it basically forever.
