Allen Edmonds New Website -- Request for Your Help and Input

Thread Starter
Greetings SF Friends and Allen Edmonds Aficionados --

As has already caught the eye of some of you, early last Sunday morning we soft-launched a totally overhauled Allen Edmonds website. This initiative is something many of you have told me through various threads and emails that Allen Edmonds needed, especially with regard to our photography. Under the months-long, committed leadership of Colin Hall, our Head of Marketing, and Dave Barber, our Head of Systems (both great guys and real pros), we've worked to respond to a great deal of your input in the re-do. It's definitely up and running but there are still some bugs to work out as with any big initiative like this.

I would like to ask for more of your input. I would very much appreciate it if you all would test drive the new site and let us know what issues you come across and any improvements you feel are needed. You can submit your feedback to us at customerfeedback@allenedmonds.com . Thanks very much for your help here and, as always, for your support of Allen Edmonds.

Before signing off, I want to point out some of the improvements you may want to test. They are listed below and please know we have plans to continually improve the site and experience...

· A new, more consistently branded look and feel for the site
· Totally new lifestyle photography
· New taxonomy to make shopping for products more intuitive
· Enhanced navigation
· Product comparison features (basic comparisons for now but more planned)
· Stronger product descriptions
· A digital fit guide to get the right fit virtually
· Customer ratings and reviews
· Question & answer section for all products
· AE Man stories (Please consider adding your own to the site!!!)
· Live chat help
· Easier layout to find stores, gift cards and access to join our email lists
· More efficient browsing with product quick view

Thanks very much again.

Best wishes,

Paul

Went on today. Nice, clean look. But was a little surprised by the limited custom options - no shell cordovan?

Hmmm, perusing the new site has me headed over to Cherry Creek to buy / order a new pair of those sweet-ass Dalton boots. So it seems pretty uber-functional to me!

The new site looks very nice but for some reason feels very cumbersome. I especially dislike the "quick view" thing that pops up when you're trying to look at the shoe, i really just want to go straight to the pictures. Also the loads times were slow the couple times i visited.

Speaking of Cherry Creek, google tells me there's a store there, but the AE site claims no stores in CO or within 100 mi of 80206 (CC's zip).

+1.
We need more options. IMO most shoes should have an extra narrow(A or AA) width option.

Great new site! Awesome job, such a needed improvement.

I am very interested in the virtual fit guide, but am having some trouble finding everything. This is taken from the site.

HELPFUL TOOLS
These tools include a downloadable Shoe Fit Guide, with detailed instructions on how to use the measurement sheet you can print. We also
feature on this site our Interactive Fit Guide, which you use in conjunction with the Shoe Fit Guide and walks you through the process in
step-by-step fashion. The links on the right take you to these handy tools.
As you use these tools, here are some time-tested tips to help you get the best measurements and the best-fitting shoes possible.

The new site looks great and I am loving my new strands. Keep up the good work!

I like the live action photos. They really bring the shoes to live much more than the gallery photos do, and do a much better job of showing off the shape, which (unfairly, IMO) often gets criticized here.

Also, the fit guide seems to disconnect from the rest of your site. Once you get here, it's weirdly disconnected and you can't get back.

Also, information about heel size would be appreciated on the last guide. But that's just the guy with a borderline E forefoot and a borderline AA heel talking. I normally wear D, but some lasts are much better than others.

Paul,

Generally the site turned out very nice even though it seems to be a bit slow.

Unfortunately, one major problem of the past has not been solved: The questionable quality of the shoe pictures. It is nice that lifestyle photography has been added for some models. However, for most models one still has to rely on the pictures already used for the previous site which in my experience are a very bad representation of the shoes' looks and colors. Just look at the "old" picture of the Delray in Chili and then at the new lifestyle pictures of the same shoe. Obviously the colors in both representations differ significantly.

In the past I always googled for pictures of AE shoes posted on blogs/forums/etc. before ordering online, because I wanted to know what they actually look like (knowing that the pictures on the AE website are not reliable). Why not use the launch of a new website to solve this issue and have realistic photos for all shoes on your website?

Best,

Alex

I just took another look at website, and while it's still painfully slow, i noticed the feature to sort shoes by last number. That is really helpful! The section with the customer reviews is a good touch as well.
