How well can this kind of damage on suit be fixed?

I bought this nice looking navy Battistoni suit from eBay for $200

When packaging it the seller noticed some damage on sleeve close to shoulder, and gave me option to mail it back with full refund including sending it back, or partial refund for the costs of fixing it and for it not looking as good as in photos.

Anybody ever gotten this kind of hole fixed and how did it look after the fix? There doesn't seem to be either navy or charcoal suit of this level with this kind of lapel widths, button stance and gorge in my size at this price level in eBay that often, so would be nice to get this fixed if that is possible.

Send it a good reweaver..  I caught a cashmere sweater on a nail which left a 5cm tear and when I got it back I couldn't tell where the hole used to be.. I think yours is an easy fix, but expect a cost of $50 - $100.

This is the consummate danger of buying second hand goods and believing you are getting a bargain. Take or send it back If that option is not open burn the thing. This cannot be satisfactorily repaired anyway and even the best possible would still say 'burn me'.

I have had a couple of holes fixed by a reweaver in the past. Their work is amazing, although the results are slightly more mixed when there is a suit fabric pattern. On your suit, the hole could be repaired almost perfectly, although on close inspection it will be apparent the fabric pattern does not flow as expected. This is typical with nailhead, herringbone, pinstripes, and other patterns.

It will cost $60 to repair a hole that size, and afterwards, the suit will look 99% the way it should. The fix would only be noticable on close inspection, and if someone in the street did notice, I would think you were up to something dodgy for allowing someone so close to your personal space lol8[1].gif

That can be rewoven. Extremely well (as in, completely unnoticeable) if you go to the right people.

Any recommendations for a reweaver in the NYC area?

Any reports on the reweavers on Geary above the tailors (San Francisco)?
