I just purchased navy a Hickey Freeman suit online at a pretty good price. It has arrived and fits well. There are a few stiff white bristley threads poking through the cloth on the shoulder. Could anyone tell me what these are? Is it safe to pluck them or try to trim them off? Is this a sign of some sort of defect (I'm still within the return period, so I can send it back if need be)? Any input would be appreciated.

This was a gift from my boss. I kept it for a few months before I just sold it. It is pretty solid. Made in USA. You can't beat the quality. If I needed a sterling silver money clip I would buy a...

I just picked this up and I am pretty pleased. Just what I expected. I am pleased with the Bark. However, I wish it was a little darker. A great deal for $35. Comparable to other belts in the...

Hickey Freeman suit shoulder question

No, no. I understand all about all of that. These are poking up through the cloth from underneath and are not on or part of the seam. They're thick and wirey, feels almost like an animal hair brush bristle and they're white (or maybe plastic? but there shouldn't be any plastic in my Hickey Freeman suit, right?). There are two or three of them poking up through the navy wool fabric maybe a quarter of an inch. If I lift the fabric a bit, they'll go back down underneath, but poke out again after wearing the jacket for a minute.

Occasionally I will have a few hairs from my canvass front poke through the cloth. All I do is pinch the fabric free of the canvass and lift it a little. Then, it settles back down and the fabric lays over the canvass again without problem. The benefit of a free floating canvass is that you can lift the wool away from the canvass. In a fused garment it would not be possible. Then, again, it probably wouldn't be horsehair either.
