The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions - Page 432

If I could get some feedback on this overcoat it would be very helpful.

I have already mocked it up and the main thing is to shorten it and then bring it in a little bit.

I was hoping to get some help with 2 items.

First, I am preparing to order my first MTM shirt from Luxire and went through and found the shirt from my closet that probably fits me the best (not good, just best of what I have) and was hoping to get some insight on how to use this shirt to guide my MTM measurements based off suggestions on what would make this shirt fit a little better.

Second, these are new pants that I was hoping for some insight into how/if I could get them tailored to fit a bit better. They are the pants I will be wearing at my wedding in June.  Thanks for the help!

And I am not sure how to do the "Spoiler" tag to make my post not take up any room. Thanks again!

Justin

I'm looking for feedback on my new Charles Tyrwhitt sport coat.   Would really appreciate any thoughts or if needed alteration suggestions.  This is the fit right out of the box on a 36S slim fit.

Hudson 40R. How's the fit? How to improve? Definitely needs a fix around the upper neck for extra fabric to account for straight back/shoulders

Hey guys, would love some advice on these pants

The pair im showing are high waisted and sit exactly where I want them too. i'm planning on making luxire trousers, but im planning to make changes from these to perfect the fit.

Clearly there is excess fabric in the hip, thigh. Not sure how much I should take in there.

Also, i have that issue behind my knees, does anyone know how to fix that?

Would appreciate some advice here.

Can't say that I would recommend using these as a base for future makes.
Look at the side seam, it really should be more vertical.
You need a flat seat adjustment, and you have one high hip and a forward hip stance.

I think it is better to start with a somewhat standard pair with a higher rise, measure your hips, indicate a flat seat and forward hip and work from the pair you receive. I don't think that it works as well to try to predetermine pattern modifications.

Would appreciate some advice here.

Thanks @Ttailor, I have this pair of actual luxire trial trousers.

Thoughts on this pair? Probably a bit closer.

Issues here, the front line crease seems to not sit straight and curves off once I start moving around. Also, a bit of a wedgie effect going on. Thoughts? Thanks

Hey chaps, I recently bought a vintage lightweight Harris Tweed patch pocket from a member on here and it's unfortunately too big. What can be done to the jacket to make it amazing? The sleeves can be let out slightly I believe.

And help me with my other vintage tweed please. This one isn't as bad right?

Thanks, Squiers! (Ignore messy room, having a clear out of old junk and clothes)

Taking this jacket to the tailor tomorrow. Mainly to adjust the sleeve length.

Should I also adjust the jacket length by an inch or so?

Anyone think removing the shoulder padding would be a good idea?

(ambition is to fix the waist by changing the shape of whats inside the jacket :embar:)

Jacket looks too tight around the waist?

Is there enough cloth there to change it?

I'm new to this forum and have learned tons from reading your post -- thanks! Now, two questions from the newbie:

Is the coat too snug? I had the tailor take it in the waist. It's Drake's Harris tweed in size 52.

Here's an Eidos coat in size 52 I just picked up. It's pretty tight, but there's not much material to let out. There's some around the center back seam. Any suggestions?

I'm wearing an OCBD and a thin merino wool sweater. I will be wearing the jackets in casual settings and probably keep them open on most occasions.

All and any input is much appreciated!

They both do look too tight. And oddly the buttoning points seem very high, especially on the Eidos, which makes me think maybe they're also too short? Can't tell from the pics. If they are fine on length and the buttoning point doesn't bother you, then letting the Eidos out seems reasonable, unless like you said you will always wear them open and don't feel like messing with it. They're both nice jackets so hopefully you get to a good place with them. Otherwise you can be sure they'll sell on B&S!
