The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions - Page 311

Just got a Benjamin suit and like so much about it, but am not sure if the shoulder fits. It feels a bit tight. I like the way it looks but it's definitely snug. I'm a well built dude, not sure if folks think it's good enough, or should be altered, or if I should pursue MTM at Paul Stuart which was my next stop.

Shoulders are definitely too small.  The sleeve shouldn't have that dimple; going up a shoulder size will let the sleeve hang straight down from the shoulder.  Looks like you haven't had any alterations yet, from the pants.  I'd take it back, and size up.

I might get them a little looser in the seat...  that's a touch too much butt camel toe for me.

Thank you! If I sized up, the pants are just going to be SO huge in the waist. They are already several inches too big. I'm going to email eHaberdasher and see what they think.

I hate having that problem.  I wish some brands/stores would be free-er about treatng their suits as separates.  I know it's an inventory nightmare, it's just frustrating when it keeps you from getting a suit you like.

Ehehe, dear lord. Thanks for the reply sir! I must admit, they don't... Feel tight when I wear them. And certainly not in the front. I do quite wonder what's causing the bunching of the fabric though in the front though. The cut, the fit, or the cloth? How would one attack it? I'm not too fond of the idea of slimming down the leg to be honest, I quite like the room, but if need be...

Edit: I do see what you mean however, and I wonder if that might just not be wrinkles from the shipping. I will have to check it out later today after I've given them a wash. Thank you!

If it's not actually caused by your butt cheeks, I am out of my depth in what the cause could be. Anyone else?

Hey, Im(I'm)TheGroom--aka SF's latest post whore--you seem to be posting an awful lot in this thread. How about we leave the advice giving to the tailors, hm? musicboohoo[1].gif

I posted twice on pretty obvious things, and when someone asked me something I didn't know, I straight up said I didn't know. If I annoy you that much, there's a block button.

I suppose tailors are not participating in this thread anymore. They must be super busy

To properly diagnose, best to see the fit without the braces attached. That may be contributing to some of the distortion in the seat area. You will probably need the crotch let out and the seat shaped.

I thrifted these two Brooksgate jackets, both fit comfortably, but I have issues with the center vent pulling open on both of them even though I feel no straining anywhere in the jacket. The backs also seem to be messy, especially on the navy blazer. Any advice on what needs to be altered and by how much?

@Despos  I need your help! I have a plaguing problem with my shoulders on my jackets. There is something wrong with my right shoulder that always causes a divot, even when the left shoulder is fairly clean. My right shoulder is the one that is the major problem every time and can be illustrated in some of the following jackets. The first is a new suit I recently purchased and I believe is accentuated by the fact that the shoulders are a bit too big to begin with. I have typically tried to compensate for this issue by buying jackets that are more narrow in the shoulders. They seem to look a little cleaner to me.

I also have trouble finding jackets that fit in the hip area due to my prominent seat, but I feel the shoulders issue is much more important. Am I doomed to being unable to wear RTW? Are there easy fixes to the new suit I have or any of these jackets? I have many jackets and am dissatisfied with the fit on nearly all of them. Jackets that are slim enough in the shoulders to accommodate my slope(?) are too short for my prominent seat. Jackets that are long enough aren't typically as flattering and have too wide shoulders. I'll keep looking, but this is so discouraging. I don't think I can afford bespoke, or I would drive down to your shop and get this solved! Thank you for any feedback you can provide.

@Despos, Could you please help me with the cause of wrinkling in my sleeves? Is the shoulder too big, or is it a sleeve pitch problem? Thanks!
