Hey guy. Just picked up this mtm sc today. would appreciate some input on fit.To make matters more difficult nothing else I am wearing is too big for me. I think it looks ok, maybe half cm shorter sleeves. there seems to be some slight lumping near the top of the shoulder and around the arms at the back but maybe not so bad? should this be fixed somehow?

long enough?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Would a 1.5" cuff help any with the pants? FWIW I am 5'9"

edit: Are the pants shapeless?

I wouldn't cuff the pants, I don't think it would help. You need more of a tailored fit rather than a classic fit because you're slender. Also, your cardigan is too long which makes the pants seem bigger, too.

I decided to donate that pair.

Regarding the cuff, I asked more as to whether my proportion/build would suit it. I took in a new suit to be tailored today, and asked for a 1.5" cuff regardless. I am not sure whether it will be slanted cuffs or straight, but he does know how to do the former.

FWIW I decided to go back to my OG tailor (further and costlier) but I was happy with previous jobs he had done.

One detail he pointed out was that if you slant pant cuffs, the seams do not align and is not as nice. Is this true? I wavered when he told me that and left the slant/straight cuff up to him to decide on.

Unfortunately the next size down on the cardigan would have been too small around the waist. I am personally fine with the length, but I should button a second button to hide the belt redface.gif

They are MTM that are supposed to have been just like a previous pair from the same maker which fit decently, with only very minor adjustments to the waist and rise on this new pair. These are too tight in the seat and thigh, and there seems to be too much material in the lap area. It's as if the front rise is too high, and the waist band sits on top of too much fabric, if that makes sense. It causes very unsightly horizontal folds just beneath the waist band:

It's as if these pants were designed to be worn VERY high on the waist, as in above the naval, but that's not how I wear my pants. Are these salvageable by a tailor? I'm thinking not.
Looks terrible. Get remake or return if your maker allows it.

Yeah, terrible indeed. No way are these acceptable. Like I said, they were made to the wrong specs and I'm insisting on a remake, but I'm getting pushback. Sigh. And like I said, the jacket fits almost perfectly. Was hoping to order at least two more suits from the same maker... their loss if they don't make this right.

Time to shame the vendor...

I have a sportcoat bought a couple of months ago and today is the first time I wear it. Surprisingly I find out that it has no real front chest pocket to put a pocket square in. Of course it has the edge makes it look like a pocket, after suspecting, I suppose that I cannot slit inside the junction inside that "virtual" pocket because it has no "bag" inside.

I wish it can be added a real front chest pocket somehow, could you please tell me if that's possible?

I'm guessing you haven't cut the thread that is holding it together? They all come shut, just carefully open and snip the thread with a razor blade.

What do you think needs to be done to this jacket, I want a slim well tailored look.

Thanks

I think the most important thing to note here is that the suit just doesn't look good on you, or seem to fit in anyway. Perhaps try another brand/size or go MTM

The shoulder looks fine, but the rest of it looks a little off. It doesn't look clean around the arms or back.

I finally bought it and had it altered, I'm going to post pictures as soon as i get it back, should be tomorrow.

I got the sleeves slimmed, the upper back taken in, the sides taken in, the collar lowered and the buttons aligned correctly.

i tried on the jacket yesterday before he finished the sleeves, and it seemed to fit much better
