There are some things that can't be done like raising armholes, but shoulders are not a problem if yours is a good tailor, just $$$.

Ok. That's good. He is a renoud tailor. Even recutting the shoulders should be a lot cheaper than getting all new suits as their biggest cost fluctuation is in the fabric, which I already have obviously.

Edit: I heard back from them, the will do all the alteration no problem. Thanks for the help!

After advise here that I should get the waist suppressed and the sleeves shortened I took it to the tailor and got it back today. I think it looks MUCH better now. I am really happy. What do you think? Ideally, the jacket length seems fine from front but an extra inch in the back would have been nice so it would have completely covered my behind. Anyways for $100 I can't complain much...
I am happy with the lapel width as well. Don't like the extremely narrow lapels of today and I don't think it is too wide either where it looks outdated. Overall it looks flattering for my size I think.

Dear tailors,

I will be ordering two new shirts tomorrow online.

I will send the mtm company this shirt, but I would like to make some changes to the fit.

At this moment my weight is about 78kg (172lbs), but in the next few months it will probably increase to 83kg (183lbs) because I will be going to the gym a lot.

Which alterations should I ask for, baring in mind that I will add some muscle.

Wait until you have the muscle, then order the shirts. To do otherwise is folly.

The shirts are a Christmas present, so I can't wait any longer...

Should order them tomorrow or the day after to get them in time.

^ that doesn't make it any better of an idea. You're talking about 10lbs of muscle on a pretty small frame. If you're taking the time and money to get MTM shirts, you. Care about how they fit, so wait until you're in the shape you want.

sugar butch and seajen are right. not only would it be a crap shoot but
you dont know exactly where the muscle will grow.
will it be the biceps, neck, shoulders, or waist?
it may even change the sleeve length.

@ Sugarbutch, SeaJen & a tailor:

Thank you all for the recommendations. I will wait a couple of months before ordering.

It would be stupid to spend money on something that wouldn't fit right.

Imagine I would stay in the same shape as I am now, which alterations should be done to provide a better fit?

You think that you're going to gain 10lbs of MUSCLE within the next few months? I think that you're going to be disappointed. On topic, it's pretty tough to make those types of predictions. Who knows what you'll look like when you're 10lbs heavier?

lol at thinking your gonna gain 10lbs of muscle in a few months...lucky to gain that in a few years wink.gif

So, got a new suit and had a play around in the studio after I had finished with my other work....excuse the crappy lighting. I've upped the exposure to make the details stand out.

Obviously the pants are too long. I have yet to sew on suspender buttons so they are a bit low as well.

Not 100% about the quarters, the left side seems to stick out a tiny bit instead of lying flat...the suit also feels fairly stiff. Could this be something that will soften up with body heat and conform to my shape a little better or is that being a little optimistic.

Would very much appreciate some feedback.

Normally I weigh 15lbs more than I do now at the same body fat%, so I think that with muscle memory it won't take years to be back at the same level ;-)
