I own a Tissot (quartz PRC200), some Seiko automatics, and a Hamilton Jazzmaster (black dial). All are great for price point and quality. I do tend to favor automatics over quartz though since it doesn't make sense to spend a ton on something that requires a battery. Recently, Steven Alan came out with automatic watches that look pretty good for $285. There's a white dial with gold plating and a black dial with nickel trim. I think they're a steal, especially since they come with a Horween Shell leather strap.
