Pics of your old shoes

"Spend more for quality shoes, and you'll get more mileage out of them."

This adage is oft repeated here, and I agree with it, but sometimes when looking at the various shoe porn threads, I can't help but notice how many of the shoes are essentially unworn. I've also seen various "collection" shots whose photographers I can only suspect are leaving out the older shoes for the sake of an unblemished glamour shot.

That all is fine with me. However I think I would learn more about the shoes I want to have in my closet by shots of well-maintained older shoes--ones that have 10 years and a sole replacement or two under their belt, but have been treated well during their run. Realizing they may not reflect the latest styles, nor shine the brightest, I think they still deserve some glory.

And, for people such as myself who are looking to build a good collection but trying to reconcile the above adage against a perception that the people who say it here don't actually hold on to shoes long enough or wear them often enough to know if it's true, I think seeing quality shoes that have held up and hold their own in a collection side-by-side with newer models would go a long way toward reassuring me of the value of the investment.

If you agree with any of the above ramblings, and have some older shoes to show off (perhaps next to their newer brothers or sisters) I'd be delighted smile.gif
