The solid gray odd jacket

Thread Starter
I have recently seen odd gray jackets in varying shades (and very subtle texture) paired with complimentary gray, black or tan trousers. It looks good, but it also looks like a broken suit. I have thought about this look as a second option to a navy jacket, but can't seem to get over the suit separates mind set. Have any of you had success with this, or am I being a bit too influenced by the fashion mags?

A plain grey jacket on its own would be rather dull but if it has texture then the world is yours.

I have a heavy flannel wool plain gray jacket I pair with black or navy pants. I know the odd navy trou doesn't get much love here though so you might stick with black, or charcoal if the jacket is light enough to create the contrast.

A mid-grey jacket with pattern or texture is great. You can wear basically any color trousers except for mid-grey. It's more versatile than most would give credit for.

I have one that is dark gray cashmere-wool blended , looks good with black pants or dark jeans. Its more of a casual jacket than a dress up one.
