Sports jacket - to keep or not to keep? Critique please...

Hi all,

Have been lurking for a bit but have a question for you guys...

I haven't sported any "nice(er)" clothes for a long time...my last two suits (which I hadn't worn in years) I just got rid of as they were  extremely ill-fitting in the first place - courtesy of the friendly, knowledgeable, and not-pushy-at-all wink.gif sales person at the Men's Warehouse.

I ended up buying a sports jacket yesterday (it's a 40R slim fit)...about $200. Ignoring the chinos (which don't go well with this jacket), what is your opinion regarding the fit? It seems the sleeves are a tad too long (but I think a 40S would definitely be too short)...is it worth getting them shortened or should I just return the jacket?

Sorry about the subpar pics...just noticed that the sleeve in the side pose looks extremely wrinkly - it's actually not quite that bad!

Thanks,

Bernie

Maybe it's the photos, but it looks to me like an orphaned suit jacket.
Also, the shoulders don't look right. Or rather the top of the shoulders
look a bit "bumpy"

Return it, you probably purchase a suit-separate. The jacket needs a light press, before I would want to comment on the fit.

Sleeve length looks okay to me. If the jacket feels loose anywhere you could proabably have the waist and sleeves taken in a little. SF members will point out that it looks like an orphaned jacket, but 98% of the population won't question it.

Looks orphaned, a bit short, and too snug (unless you are just snugging)
