the clowns in SW&D are telling this kid that his jeans "fit well".

I've never seen a more horrendous look.

talk about a full (read: 40) break

Never understood this look yet it seems to be quite popular with that crowd. If I had a dollar for every person in Atlanta that wore skinny jeans 4-6 inches too long with basketball/athletic shoes 2 sizes too big...

IMO jeans should be hemmed and fit more or less the same way as trousers. Don't think there should be this crazy difference between denim and every other pant material.

Yes, but these are the same people who wear wool trousers exactly the same way.

I completely agree. It's the same story here in Manhattan with that crowd.

Probably should have clarified *proper* trouser hemming (or at least approaching proper).

Interesting you say that though. I can't help but feel the same dudes I see wearing ridiculously long jeans with hi-tops are the same ones wearing super skinny chinos three inches above their ankle when they're not in denim. I have to admit I don't pay that much attention, however.

I'm definitely coming around. I have some longer jeans that are worn exclusively with sneakers and a t-shirt, but for the most part my jeans just rest on the very top of my shoes.

I can't imagine a worse look than skinny jeans on a guy with that much puddling.

The "stacking" of the denim is asethetic that is popular with the SW&D crowd, probably analogous to how no break + 2" cuffs are here.

the difference is that one looks good and clean, and the other looks sloppy and ridiculous.

Some people might say trousers with no break look as if they're too short; it's a matter of opinion. I'm not personally fond of "stacking" but whatever...

He likes Soulja Boy's remix to YC's "Racks" . . . stacks on stacks on stacks.

Jeans are casual, and casuals are the clothing area where styles change most over time, often quite dramatically. I wear my jeans and like them to fit close to regular trousers, which means no baggyness and length to top of shoe. Others like super low rise skin tight jeans where one can observe a butt crack with an inappropriate choice of underwear facepalm.gif. It was not that long ago super baggy jeans were all the rage. Shit happens, move on. The people in SW&D may be more in tune with contemporary casual style than over here, so we are bound to think WTF if something gets universal approval there.
