Price tags stapled to the fronts of ties.

The ill-training/indifference/hostility required to murder tie after tie...just amazes me.

I find that it's mostly Goodwill that doesn't have the restrooms. With an ever enlarging prostate, I've had many a thrift run cut short by "the need". Did you ever notice that the ten businesses on either side of a Goodwill have a "Restroom for our customer use only" sign prominently posted? There's a McDonalds on every corner except the one on which any Goodwill is situated.

Mack nailed it.  The staples in garments that don't have the kind of hardy material to withstand them!

Or the lack of rotation in the worst stock, which you see month after month.  Blow that stuff out of there at 25 cents and make room for something with potential.

I'm also not keen on the variations in pricing policy.

Still, I'm not super keen on being too hard on thrift stores.  As someone said earlier, they allow an awful lot of people who can't afford good clothes a chance at exploring fashion.

All of my favorite long coats came from there when I was in college.

YES!!!

Staples, easily, is the winner, I think. GW doesn't do it, but SA does. Never to ties, but for several months, they were butchering shoes and other leather goods. I called every person I could think of at SA--including national headquarters in Virginia-- to convince them that stapling price tags to leather (and they were using some big-ass staples) wasn't a good idea, and to no avail. They couldn't give a shit--every live person I managed to reach said it wasn't their department, messages were never returned, etc. Which, I suppose, is another peeve: A complete lack of willingness to listen to customers, even when listening to customers would help their bottom line.

SA still staples most everything else, but with patience, they can usually be extracted with no damage. GW, OTOH, has no such issues, at least around here, and you can find a live person who will listen. Plus, GW has awesome bathrooms, spacious and clean.

What goes around comes around: GW gets all my donations, SA gets nothing.

I hate when they write the price on the bottom of a pair of vintage leather soled shoes with a magic marker. If I want to resell them, its my business what I paid for them.

Hell yes!

I also hate the tease of seeing that "Made in Italy" tag along a suit collar only to find out it's something like a Mario Berlutti or Giorgio Chiarelli or something along those lines.

Am I the only one who finds it rather ridiculous that people who make make money off the backs of often small charitable organizations have the gall the complain about the places that are essentially subsidizing their business.
