Will definitely be on the look out for some ham pea soup. I'm assuming it was very cold in December hence the soup was what you enjoyed the most? Hopefully it can stay around mid 50s or so around mid to late November.

Any recommendations for nearby sights and or cities around amsterdam that is not a major tourist stop? Also have 2 days in Brussels and would appreciate any recommendations there as well.

A day trip to The Hague (...it's a lot more interesting than Rotterdam). It's about an hour by train.

Thank you for the recommendations. It is much appreciated.

So my next question... where is the best coffee shop in Amsterdam that you could recommend?
I actually wouldn't know, you'd be surprised how many locals don't smoke cannabis.

Having that said, talk to any tourist you see on the street, and they can tell you.

Agree. There is no best coffee shop. Just explore and experiment...
