1'' vs 1.25'' belt

I'm trying to decide between a 1'' and 1.25'' burgundy belt. This will be used mostly for business casual (no suit, no tie) so I'm leaning towards 1.25''. But I'm afraid that 1.25'' may be too big?? My preferred width is 1 1/8'' but that isn't available.

Any help is appreciated on deciding which one.

Depends on your height, weight, width of ties, pants with or without pleats, etc. smile.gif

Personally I find 1.25" to be a happy medium, and 1" to be too narrow, but YMMV...

Forgot about all that... 140-150lbs, little under 6 foot, no ties, flat front, cuffs on pants

I am interested in this as well.

I posted a suit fit pic and was using a 1.5" width belt and some said it was too thick (I am 5'10).

1.25" is better.

1" too much/fashion forward?

For me 1 inch is just to narrow at 6'1" 180 lbs. normally wearing flat front w/no tie.

1.25.

1 inch will look disproportionately narrow for your frame.

So you are tall and extremely skinny. I think a 1" would be fine for you, depending on your clothing aesthetic.

I pick belt width based on the size of the width of the waist band and hence the size of the belt loops on the pants.

+ 1. Nothing worse than a "floating" belt, especially with a sloped waistband.

Even more confused now... but I'm leaning towards 1'' as I feel that 1.25 is just a bit too wide for me.

Any other opinions?

As already mentioned, decide what works proportionately with your build and style of your clothes. For me, 1-1/8" works best. Harder to find, but not impossible. Here's a J Press scotchgrain belt that's 30mm wide and a Ben Silver croc belt that's 1-1/8".

theres no way 1.25 will be too wide, 1.25 is pretty standard, and I personally prefer belts even wider, up to 1.5. And I find 1 inch to be almost absurdly narrow, to the point where it looks like a women's belt.

I always favor a 1.25-inch belt. A side benefit, if it concerns you, is that it is much better for packing a sidearm.

I don't have a 1'' belt to see, but the one in front of me is 1 1/8'' and that is about the thinnest I'd go after seeing it again...

Is the rule, the more formal the outfit, the thinner the belt? I'm asking because I'll probably never be wearing this with a suit/ tie if that changes anything.
