Buying First Coat

post #1 of 7

Just graduated and work for a Big 4 accounting firm as a tax accountant so I'm always in the office. The culture at my office is extremely casual, just dress slacks and a button up, nothing crazy. So usually, im wearing grey or black dress slacks and sometimes khackis. My question is, can I just get a nice black pea coat and be okay for work? I wasn't looking at spending a fortune so this usually isn't a good place to ask but Id thought id shoot it out there. Here is the one I was looking at;

I wouldn't get black. Charcoal, navy, or camel.

Also, I think the look would be better with a car coat as opposed to a peacoat (the shiny buttons look weird to me).

perhaps something like this:

+1. I vote for camel, navy, or charcoal in that order.

And I suggest that you stop wearing black trousers ... unless they are made of corduroy or (he crosses himself) denim.

+1 to this. Except for the camel. Go navy or charcoal. (Obviously color is a personal preference, all of them work, I just dislike camel)

I get lazy and where black some days, but Im not really liking this coat, I also walk to work and live in Ohio so warmth is an issue for me.

My comments are more about color ... not a specific coat.
