here are my before and after comparison pictures
i bought 2 exact same brooks brothers egyptian cotton slim fit white shirt, size 15.5-34
took 1 to the tailor to get the torso and sleeves slimmed some more
so i am able to wear both shirts back to back for the comparison

the shirt off the rack

after slimming the torso and the sleeves
(btw, i love these shorts i got from target on clearance for $14)

pictures with shirt tucked in

^after slimming

it may seem like a subtle difference... but it definitely makes a difference
the tailored shirt gives my body a more V shape and whereas the normal shirt makes me look a bit pudgy
and i can still move comfortably after the tailoring
paid $15 per shirt to tailor

conclusion - getting your dress shirt tailored is definitely worth it

Yes, that's a lot better, but you should have had your tailor shorten the sleeves a bit.

this was something i was undecided on
because i've had 15.5-33 shirts that ended up shrinking and getting a little TOO short...
i believe i am a 33.5 length for sleeve

i think i might just have the buttons moved a bit on the barrel instead of shortening the sleeve

Well done. smile.gif Thank you for sharing the photos.

Should've go to the tailors after a couple washes after shrinkage.

It seems like you're better off spending the money on buying a better fitting shirt than tailoring it. how much did that cost you? $30-$40?

edit- just saw that it only costs $15... what tailor are you using? Mine charged $20 just to pull in the chest/waist of a polo shirt.

I think it should be slimmer. In your second picture the shirt is mushrooming over your pants. You're tailored shirt looks like the first pic I attached- however, it shoud look like the second. Though you said you had problems with shrinkage in the past , it looks like that shirt was too big to begin with. Did you try on a 14 32/33 at the store?

The difference is exaggerated a bit by the fact that in the 'before' pics the shirt in unironed and wrinkled but it is nicely ironed in the 'after' pictures :-/

Still, a definite improvement, though I would still take a bit more out of the waist, to get rid of the 'mushrooming' as mentioned above.

I think this is the case.

Tough crowd here
I didn't want the shirt to look like it was stuck to my body
Otherwise I don't think I would opt for brooks brothers to begin with
But I will try getting the waist taken in just a bit more
And see how that comes out

The tailor is mr.yoo at "pro tailor" in koreatown los angeles
He speaks english just fine in case you're wondering
I found him while watching a "put this on" video
The segment did not mention the name of the shop
But I recognized the street and searched online for a tailor on that street
Then messaged youngamerican to ask whether that was the right shop

The wrinkled vs. ironed was not planned
but isn't that how before and after pictures work?
Like weight loss and acne commercials... Use bad lighting, make up, etc. to exaggerate the difference
