Your thoughts on appropriate attire for this event

Gents,
I'm attending a Jets game on sunday night. I will be in an executive suite with the CEOs of some very impressive companies.

I'm about 90% sure there will be no suits.

I'm thinking either a pair of navy slacks with a tan sport coat or a pair of dark navy jeans with the same sport coat, a crisp white shirt, and a pair of beechnut merton C&J loafers.

Does this seem appropriate to you guys?

thanks

People in the suites I've visited usually dress business casual, but there may be differences based on location. Thus, a sport coat is fine, but if you don't wear a sport coat, then I would not wear the jeans. I rarely have seen people wearing jeans in suites.

ok, good info. Definitely would not wear jeans without the jacket.

Havent a clue about the etiquette in the States but in the UK Jeans are a def No No in the executive boxes, lounges and restuarants at football matches. I would go with the trousers, sport coat and shirt im sure that wont be out of place. Enjoy your evening.

Disagree on all three counts in my experience in the UK.

yeah i guess I'd rather be over dressed not underdressed.

I would go wool slacks or chinos, nice shirt, v neck sweater, tie. And despite my professed hate for the overly structured and simply unnatural loafers english companies like C&J make, if you like 'em, the level of formality is good with that outfit.

You're at a football game... don't wear a sport coat or a suit facepalm.gif.

The farthest I'd go is wearing a dress shirt with two open buttons and some trousers with loafers.

It's not like he is sitting in the stands. A sport coat would be fine.

Why does it matter where he's sitting? lol

Because he's sitting in a suite with high powered corporate executives, whose mode of dress and idea of 'casual' is very, very different than that of the average NFL fan. In a corporate suite at a pro sports event, a sportcoat isn't too big a stretch. If you're sitting in the stands amongst the fans shoving multiple hot dogs in their mouth at any given time, it's a different story.
