Really..."new"... you wore it twice wtf - eBay

Maybe it just me, as I sell on here and eBay alot, but when someone list something as "New without Tags" or "New with Box" as per the link below, and then goes on to say "I only wore them outside maybe twice" it really pisses me off. Am I the only one? Sorry in advance if it is a SF member (but hey your getting free publicity), but seriously if it's been used, mark it as used.

PS - The point is not due to the time spent/wasted, but due to how people list things as NWOT or NWT or NWB when they know they are not new.

OR...you could press the "BACK" button and forget about those 30secs it took you to find out the real condition of the item

*pressing BACK button* EASY BREEZY!

sand in vagina much?

Also "I wore it twice" means "I found it at a thrift store and it doesn't look new but isn't beat to hell either."

Reminds me of all the stuff on Craiglist that people advertise as:

Like new in box
Still in original box
Looks brand new

None of the above means it is new. When you open the box, use it, and put it back in the box, it is no longer new!

Seriously I still have the box for my 15 year old FAX machine and (other than dust) it looks brand new. Should I repackage it and put it on CL as "like new in box"? Like new from 1996 isn't the same as brand new smile.gif

Try finding a watch on craigslist. "Works, but needs a battery." Right, so you're selling a $$$$ watch and can't afford a 2 dollar battery to get it in working order? confused.gif

What's all the fuss about? So someone is selling a used pair of shoes. That's what FleaBay is all about, for people get some $$$ £££ for their unwanted stuff.

"Condition: These are pretty much brand new, I only wore them outside maybe twice since I bought them only a few months ago and have not really needed them this season though they can easily be worn sans socks or in winter weather."

Seems fair enough to me, the vendor has apparently worn them twice. They look like they're in good condition as well from the pics. Thing is the vendor didn't say 'new in box' or 'new with tags' it is 'pretty much brand new', so take that as you will.

Actually they are listed as "Condition: New with box: A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging (such as the original box or bag) and/or with the original tags attached". This is why I made the post. A lot of sellers will post stuff at "new" to get more hits and people looking even when it is not new, and they should be posting it as "used", even if it was only used once or twice.

I really hate "new without tags." The only way you should be able to list new without tags is if there's evidence that it hasn't been worn outside or in public. For example, with shoes you can tell on the sole. With Jackets, the sleeves can be unfinished, shoulder basting still intact, etc. (However, I have seen people wear their jackets with basting still intact, but I'm assuming these aren't people that wear high end clothes).

My favorite has always been when someone says shoes only worn once or twice but it looks like the one or two times the seller wore the shoes he walked a marathon in them each time.

^ I can add to that. When someone is selling jeans an says worn about 5 times. Which really means worn at least 30+

There are many words and phrases used on the 'bay which I take with large pinch of salt, e.g. 'gently worn' meaning worn out, 'untested' meaning broken, 'genuine' or 'authentic' meaning counterfeit or knock-off, especially if the lot is in Hong Kong or China. The ones I really like 'R@RE' or 'L@@K', as if the '@' is going to have some kind of hypnotising effect on would-be bidders.

Ah... I didn't see that, only saw the vendor's own description and pictures of the shoes

I see this nearly every other listing when looking for shoes; it's really pathetic.

moral of story = people say what they want in titles to sell shit = advertising.
