I thought I'd start a new thread as the original purpose of navy SC plus jeans has changed.

I wondered what you all thought of the following SC and jeans and cord combinations. Bear in mind the jackets are OTR and pre-alteration (and have labels on still!) so I'm looking for colour critique on the jean combinations most of all.

I do think the faded blue jeans are a bit too light for the green donegal jacket, though look good with the blue window pane.

Below are indigo Levi 504s. I think these look good at the moment but need to a little fading. The jeans are brand new though, so will they fade a degree within a few washes?

Sorry Dark Knight, I'm not a fan of jeans and tailored sport coats. Imo, jeans go better with rougher, more casual jackets. Heavy twill or roughed up tweed. Something like a field or safari jacket. Maybe a rugged cotton sport coat.

On the other hand, those coats would all look great with a single pair of medium gray wool dress pants.

No problem Parker. What about with cords? Tweed and cords are a classic combination aren't they? I'm wearing brown cords in the above photos. I agree on the grey wool pants! My next purchase will be some grey flannel trousers I think. I like these in the light grey http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...HOCOLATE&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=# Do you think a medium grey flannel would be a better match with both the blue and green donegal jackets?

Cords + tweed =

Medium gray will go well with all your jackets. You want contrast between top and bottom, but not too much. Mid-gray usually does the trick. Sometimes I find light gray pants to be too severe unless the jacket is also fairly light toned.

Yeah I'm really liking the cords I have, they are from Marks and Spencers and great for the price.

I think some brick red cords and also some aubergine ones might work well, there are red flecks in the donegal and a red over check in the blue windowpane. I hear you on the light grey and too much contrast.

I suggest you look here!
Joined 2.11, posted twice around 2.18 and then banned! But yeah I was looking at Howard Yount last night actually and their flannel pants, they seem very nice, although slimmer than my slimmest jeans

They would go well with a light grey flannel too.
