PS: About the Ferrari: what kind of 250 are you looking at? When my parents lived in Luxembourg (where I was born, actually) they had a 250 Lusso.
I should add that, at the time, old Ferraris were just considered pretty but unrefined used cars, and were not any more expensive to buy than, say, then-new Datsun/Nissan Z-cars. Of course, maintenance never was cheap. He later said that his experience with that car is what convinced him to only buy Jaguars (at least until the end of the Series-3 XJ-6's reign). However, I suspect that he would've venerated it had he kept it long enough to sell it for however many hundreds of thousands of dollars they were going for in their late-1980s peak..... Â
