Dress shirt question - Page 2

Joe - I'm like you these days, glued to the TV with a remote in my hand. I will have to stay away from Manny's this week because if my wife see your fiancee's Bulgari ring, she's going to want one to, and then I'll be broke.

OK- Ferraris and broad stripes... Got a gorgeous Barba sport/dress shirt at Scott Hill in LA over the wknd. Great store, great shirt- beautiful colors and fabric. Then found a Paul Smith tie at N-M on Wilshire to finish it off... Used to lust after the new SL or CL 500, until I saw a midnight blue on midnight blue Ferrari convertible in Chicago in Sept. when I was researching the book...Only thing that could top it would be a black and purple Lear Jet...(My company colors LOL) Keep us posted on the great Ferrari hunt GQL. Joe G- How'd you like Michael Moore at the Oscars last Night?

Scott Hill was literally three blocks from my corporate apartment in L.A., but I was too intimidated by the facade to ever enter the store.  I'm more of a Fred Segal/Lisa Kline Men guy anyways. Hope you got to have a meal at the Newsroom up the street -- great place for a relaxing breakfast on the weekend.

PS: About the Ferrari: what kind of 250 are you looking at? When my parents lived in Luxembourg (where I was born, actually) they had a 250 Lusso.
I should add that, at the time, old Ferraris were just considered pretty but unrefined used cars, and were not any more expensive to buy than, say, then-new Datsun/Nissan Z-cars. Of course, maintenance never was cheap. He later said that his experience with that car is what convinced him to only buy Jaguars (at least until the end of the Series-3 XJ-6's reign). However, I suspect that he would've venerated it had he kept it long enough to sell it for however many hundreds of thousands of dollars they were going for in their late-1980s peak.....   Peace, JG
