NOTHING fits me properly!

Ok, so i have a problem. I have a very weird body type. Nearly all clothes end up being too long on me. I am 5'10", 160lbs, with a muscular build for my size. My arms are too big for nearly all cardigans, sweaters, that properly fit the rest of my body... on for regular shirts, they always end up being too long. Here I am wearing a size S in Jcrew. I can't go any smaller. It fits the rest of my body fine, but it is always too long.... with every brand. Should I just spend the money and get all of my stuff tailored? Im assuming that won't be cheap and may be silly doing it too JCREW shirts. Can I get by wearing shirts with this length?

Now you're infecting the rest of the world, instead of just the Epaulet thread.
Where you thought shirts were too short, not too long.
Just size down one to XS or buy brands that are made for elvish men.

this forum tends to frown upon jcrew but a well fitting jcrew shirt will look better than a ill-fitting ____ shirt. cheap solution - roll your sleeves up and tuck in your shirt

Would getting Jcrew shirts tailored be a stupid idea?

Xhale, I have the same problem as you, and it is incredibly frustrating. I am 5'11", 185 pounds (muscular build), and the proportions of most clothes simply do not work for me. A shirt that fits me in the shoulders (typically a medium) will often be too long and have sleeves that are too small/short (if we're talking a short sleeve shirt).

I have a difficult time finding even the most basic casual wardrobe essentials--solid t-shirts, for example--that fit me well. My latest attempt to buy some t-shirts was at GAP; mediums fit my shoulders perfectly, but were way too long in the body, hanging about 6 inches below my belt. Now, I know I'm not exactly "tall" at 5'11", but I'm not short, either. It is absurd that a size medium t-shirt is so long on me. I of course wear my t-shirts untucked, and like them to fall an inch or two past the bottom of my belt in the front, slightly longer in the back. But I have tried on countless shirts that don't work for me because they are too long. Sizing down is almost never an option, as that usually results in the chest, shoulders, and sleeves being far too small. I might start shirt-shopping with the mentality of finding shirts that fit well in the shoulders and sleeves, even if the body is too long, with the intent of having a tailor shorten them. Anyone had any luck with having shirt hems shortened?

By the way, Xhale, is the shirt in your first few pics the "vintage oxford"? If so, I've got that same shirt (in medium). While the fit of mine isn't optimal, it isn't terrible, either. I wear it casually with jeans (read: untucked) and would prefer the tail to be shorter. It's too full in the body to tuck-in cleanly, as I imagine yours is, too.

I cant buy smaller shirts. The only thing smaller is an extra small. The length is good but it fits me way to tight.

Buy from brands that fit better. And add darts to shirts that are too big in the mid-section.

Thats not tight in the arms at all and tailoring a shirt to make it shorter costs like 4$ so "spending the money" is nothing. In short, you're an idiot.

edit - Also why would you tailor an expensive shirt, it should fit already or else why would you be paying a lot for it.

Flyswatter, yes that happens as well. When I tuck shirts in, it looks like crap.

How expensive do you guys think it would be for me to get 15 or so shirts like this tailored to fit me the way they should?

Who knows your tailor just go fucking ask a real person who does this for a living near you.
