Sonny Bill must be in that starting team.

France always give a great showing, England are tactical but yep. Oh, no chance Samoa are going through ahead of Wales in my opinion.

That's why IRB is putting its focus developing the Sevens game. Much more parity much easier to develop, and let's face it, Argentina is probably the only team in the next 20 years who could become one of the titan. And that's a really fast timetable.

Just so the Kiwis do not get too carried away past results are:

Australia 2 wins 1 runner up
SA 2 wins
UK 1 win 2 runners up
NZ 1 win 1 runner up
France 2 runners up

Also Sonny Bill was fantastic tonight so I hope the pundits shut the fuck up about him. Am happy for Kahui who has also had pressure on him as not being good enough over recent times. Cowen didn't do much for me today, would definitely prefer Weepu in there.

strongly disagree about sonny bill. He just doesn't understand how to run in the backs, doesn't actually have a decent step and has shitty acceleration. Great league player, and might be good as a loose forward, just not in the backline. He looked allright tonight running in massive overlaps with Nonu and Carter and Dagg setting everything up. He butchered a couple of tries - had room with 10m to the tryline and cut in instead of backing his pace to go around the outside. Toeava did the exact same thing. Backs need to be fast enough to get around the outside. Nonu or Smith would not have made that mistake. (Or Gear, or Robbie Fruean, but that's another story).

Jerome Kaino is our MVP at the moment. More important than McCaw. His workrate is amazing, huge on defence and attack and strong in the rucks. We missed him against south africa.

Agree about Cowan, he looked average. Honestly it was a pretty patchy game. Only Ali Williams and Kaino looked good in the forwards.

Japan were awesome in patches. That scoreline is really flattering to France. fun game.

Lol at England's kit. They can do what they want, but why would they do that?

700

the one they're playing with tonight doesn't have the 02, just a small nike logo.

oh dont start with the black shirt thing its zzzzzz. The real story is how shit England are!

Just one note about sonny bill - he contributed passes in contact that led to 3 tries. Oh and Fruean! Cant believe he cant make the ABs, such a good player.

Sonny Bill is flawed and far from the complete centre, but he is brilliant at times. Quade Cooper - who moves to the wing in defence! - is an analogous player. I'd love to see NZ give Sonny a chance: would make for a better tournament.

Yeah i guess he did play well, I just don't think he's on the level of Smith or Nonu. Would love to have Fruean in there.

England were hilariously bad last night. Complaining to the ref when they were lying all over the ball at the rucks. They were penalised fairly each time and they kept bitching. They should've been yellow-carded earlier IMO.

Great game.

Here's what is pissing me off. The station that is showing the RWC here shows a bunch of olympic sports usually tape delayed and in a stupid and frustrating manner. Case in point, rather than showing the matches like today, they are showing month-old triathlon, and only the Tonga NZ match.

Fuck Ireland.

Spent the weekend watching the RWC surprised by Romania and Scotland game.

Just watched Wales and SA great game. So was the 2nd half Wallabies v Italy.

It only gets better from here on in. Go the Wallabies!

South Africa was lucky to get out of that one. Wallabies were terrible in the first half. Italian scrum awesome as usual. Samoa to win their pool.

Would love to see that happening, but after the way Wales play, it's hard to see Samoa beating them, and then getting up to beat both Fiji and South Africa. Real tough pool.

USA may fancy themselves against Ireland tomorrow. Hell, Italy should as well. that's the easiest pool for a minnow to get through i think. I wonder what Russia will be like.

Gotta be happy with the way Argentina played today. They've really gotta be brought into a regular competition. Is it me imagining things or was there a plan to bring them into the tri nations?

This pisses me off too. NZ spent so much tax payer money bringing the world cup here and we're making a huge loss as the only direct profits are from ticket sales - broadcasting, ads etc all go to the IRB. If we're not at least getting the television coverage to broadcast our beautiful country (inferiority complex means we can't fathom anyone ever thinking that our country isn't beautiful) to the world than it's all a big waste of money.

Plus, all the games so far have been great to watch.
