If you go to the Ben Silver web site, click "Shop by brand" and you'll see Drakes of London. These squares will show up.

I was all set to do the four-in-and-buy Spoo thing, but the Ben Silver option seems better. (My luck, I would have been stuck with *claret*!)

Yep, this seems the more prudent decision.

Further, the most interesting pieces in the collection all seem to be 7cm--namely the Boucle ties, the Ancient Madder, et alii. I would love to pick up one of those Boucle ties, but at a less than ideal width and 105 pounds... I am just not sure it would be worth it to me. Now, if it was the standard 8cm, and 105 pounds that would be one thing; but that is a lot of money to fork out for something that is less than perfect [for me]. I know that ties are tending to get narrower, but the narrow look just does not work on my body type. C'est triste.

Other than my gripes though, some really lovely ties.

I e-mailed them about 9cm ties a few months back and was informed that they feel that the current fashion is for narrower ties and thus 8cm is their default measurement at present. Sigh...

Great, now Drakes are fashion-followers too. As though there is such a huge market for 100GBP 7cm (2.75") ancient madder ties. Something to go with the skinny lapels which are... wait a minute, not trendy anymore! Idiots.

So much for Michael Drakes' "Men Should Be Stylish, Not Fashionable". Oh wait, he doesn't own his company anymore! frown.gif

Drake's also have bespoke service, so if that extra 20-30 pound depending on tie, or annoyance over having to order a bespoke because they decided to go "fashionable", isn't issue, you can order bespoke ties for 125 pounds, minimum 3 ties in same size, fabric can be same or different for each tie. http://www.drakes-london.com/bespoke-services

That's nearly an extra $50 per tie, every 3 ties you could pick up another one. Likely non-returnable too.

Needs more 9cm.

Completely agree. The 7cm thing is absurd. Certainly didn't use to be like that a few seasons ago.

My recommendation would be to deal with Emma Willis. Beautiful collection of Drakes ties and all 9cm
