Drakes winter collection

Thread Starter
The new Drakes winter collection has been on the website for at least three hours as I'm typing, and no thread on this yet?

Anyway, again a big risk to the credit card...

... and ...

I was hoping for the Moghul prints to make a reappearance but the Kelim print you've linked and the Moyen Age prints are right up there.

I saw that this morning, and while they do have some beautiful pieces, there are just way too many pieces in the 7cm width for me. Further, the most interesting pieces in the collection all seem to be 7cm--namely the Boucle ties, the Ancient Madder, et alii. I would love to pick up one of those Boucle ties, but at a less than ideal width and 105 pounds... I am just not sure it would be worth it to me. Now, if it was the standard 8cm, and 105 pounds that would be one thing; but that is a lot of money to fork out for something that is less than perfect [for me]. I know that ties are tending to get narrower, but the narrow look just does not work on my body type. C'est triste.

Other than my gripes though, some really lovely ties.

I was expecting more for their shungtang line but Rubinacci seems to have a much wider / better selection of shuntang / raw silk ties. I do like the Moghul squares though - cannot wait to visit their store this weekend...

I agree wholeheartedly. The designs are spectacular, but, in many cases, too narrow.

Are these handkerchiefs sold separately versus the set of four sold on the Drakes of London website? Thank you.

Is there a reason their shantungs seem to always be 7 cm instead of 8?

Agree with this 10000%. I can deal with 7cm, but much prefer 8cm.

I keep forgetting Rubinacci has an eCommerce site. Hmm...

Sounds like a group buy to me! Lets get 4 of us to go in on a set, and split it 4 ways! First one to sign up gets their pick of color (you), second one (me) chooses next. Next 2 guys pick as well. Who is in??

Imagine being in my situation... I am a 42R and only 5'11 [read: broad shoulders]. If 7cm is almost too narrow for you, it is almost absurd looking on me! The 9cm is an improvement, but 8cm is right on the money for me. Oh Armoury, how I love thee, but please make me some 8cm Boucle and Ancient Madder ties! I will even settle on 9cm if I have to!

You can get them to make one for you and specify the width...I think when I was in the store they said it was an extra 20 pounds...

"For our bespoke service we request a minimum of three ties of identical specifications in the same or different fabrics. The cost for custom work is 125 pounds per tie."

True, but three ties at 125 pounds / tie is fairly steep smile.gif. 375 pounds [or ~$600] for three ties is a bit too rich for my blood, regardless of how big of a baller I think I am.

I hear ya...but if you get desperate, there's always that option smile.gif
