Thoughts on high-top boat shoes?

Are these good to wear for the fall, before snow? I don't really have a strong opinion about them, but bought a pair for a great deal recently, so was wondering.

I personally think they are ugly as hell. Some people beg to differ. Why not just get some normal boots?

What is the point? If you've got the 360 degree lacing holes aren't you eliminating some of the usefulness of a boot? Not to mention that lacing probably doesn't even work. I think boat shoes should stay boat shoes and be used at or near the water or on boats.
