Hermes: How Leather Goods Are Made - Page 2

Hermes are entirely hand made in France by traditionally trained artisans who go through an apprenticeship; a very few products they have (one scarf made by I think Alex Begg, but designed by hermes) are not manufactured in France but in first world countries like England.

Hermes is a step above shady Italian companies who partially outsource to the 3rd world

There are no inexpensive Hermes leather goods.

+1. None.

My lady has several Birkins and Kellys, and it's the solid, smooth burnished edge of the multiple leather layers that hold the top flap to the vessel that is the real attraction with these things, IMO. Just impeccable. I don't know which men's pieces would show off similar levels of craftsmanship. Probably not any breast wallets. redface.gif

BTW, anyone knows who makes an Stringray leather breast wallet?

Oliver Sweeney makes this - they also sold a breast wallet version but I can't find it online, might be worth asking them:

Stingray wallet

I don't, but I've handled them instore and they look just like the photo and seem well made.

Are they really shiny? I would prefer if they were not as shiny.

Pretty shiny, because the stingray skins have been polished to give the finish. It'll dull down with use though.

Got an invite to the State Theatre Sydney to watch this selfsame Hermes Doco; pity the wife and I can't make it.

(Don't think we can sneak the 2-year old bundle of joy and noise into the venue that easily...)
