John Coltrane. He is the only musical artist I really would have liked to see perform live. He left behind an incredible body of work, but was constantly evolving, so it would be fascinating to see where he went next.

Love Johnny Cash, but he lived a full life and as much as I love some of the end of life recordings he made, his most creative years were far in the past. If anything, those late recordings gain a lot of resonance because they were made at the end. How could any man hope for a better final legacy than "Hurt" and the accompanying video?

True, but I am being selfish: I never got the chance to see him live.

I had tickets to see him on the tour he cancelled because of his health.

That sorts of raises a question: are we talking about raising the 2003 Johnny Cash from the grave, or bring back 1968 Live at San Quentin Johnny Cash? Because if it's the latter, hell yeah

+1 for Ronnie Van Zandt and Steve Gaines. But I would also add Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, to make an Allman Bro's/Skynyrd double headliner. Otis Redding needs to be mentioned as well.
