Barber/Stylist in L.A.?

Hi, I'm currently looking for a good barber or stylist in the L.A. area (the closer to San Gabriel Valley, the better) and hoping to spend between $15-25 at most for a cut.

I'm asian, so most of the stylists i've gone to in the past were asian as well; i've decided to break the habit since asian hairstylists seem to be the worst (they typically only give one style of haircut and they do a piss poor job with details for the most part).

I found another thread about L.A. stylists, but I'm wondering if anyone has found any gems that aren't necessarily in the heart of L.A. (driving down there all the time would probably be too much of a hassle for me to deal with, since I like getting haircuts every 1-1/2 to 2 weeks).

Can anyone recommend anything?

My friend Carlos is opening a salon in south pasadena around feb 1st. His # is 213-925-1519. I've been getting my hair cut by him for about 6 years.

thanks for the reply, i'll be sure to check him out come february

does anyone have any recommendations between now and feb? i hate to have my hair get so shaggy (my hair tends to stick almost straight out when it gets longer, making it look like an asian afro).

not sure what a blowout is, so I'll describe what happens to me... usually, i get the typical asian cut which is short on the sides (0 or 1/2) faded to a longer top (usually combed back or up). after a couple weeks, the hair on the sides begins to get a little long, and since asian hair tands to grow outwards rather than down, it makes my hair look almost puffy (kind of like the bristles on a shoe brush). that is what i term the asian-afro, but blowout may be a little more PC

personally, i don't like to wear my hair in the typical asian guy manner since it's overdone and has no "personality" as i'd like to think of it, so I'm trying to find non-asian barbers.

anyway, doing some research for a place right now and I'll post something when/if i find someone that i like.

Henri Soucy @ Gornick-Drucker's in Beverly Hills.

Without a doubt, head-and-shoulders above any other barber/stylist in the world.

Truly "barber to the stars," he cut many of them and fixed a lot of their bad cuts from other barbers, especially when he was @ the legendary Jerry's at Bergdorf-Goodman in NYC.

Absolutely the best barber shave in the world, too.

He does me 2x week and I've had them all over the world.

His facials are better than you-know-what, too.

He does all the work; for your its an hour of pure enjoyment.
