First Pair of Raw Selvedge! Doesn't fit... Tailoring Recommendations?

I'm in high school and I'm pretty small. The inseam on these are pretty long (34")

How should I tailor these? How much should I shorten the inseam but still keep enough to fade honeycombs/stacks.

Thanks! The cuffed part is what I planned on shortening, but it seems like I might need more?

As I'm sure you've read by now, raw denim will stretch quite a lot once you start wearing it. So the best thing to do at this point is to tailor them so that the bottom of the hem hits right at the top of your ankle. After wearing them for a week or two they will stretch out to just the right length.

leave two extra inches from your regular inseam IMO

They'll shrink when washed and they shouldn't stretch in length. Better too long than too short.

I don't think it's funny to give a new member advice that will ruin his jeans, dtmt.

For jeans, I leave the inseam 2-2.5'' longer than any other kind of trousers.

I'm 5'10" and hem mine to 34", usually. I could probably stack more but it always feels sloppy. My inseam should be around 31-32" so I'm leaving at least 2 extra inches.

You should post questions like this in the denim thread and not start a new thread, but there you go, add two inches from your normal length. Seems like a consensus. They are sanforized so they won't shrink much when you do eventually wash, maybe 1/2".

most people prefer stacks. they definitely fit well already, i would just hot soak them and leave em how they are.

Just got these jeans today at an amazing price of $25. Levi's 511 28x30

I think I'll tailor the Unbranded to 28x31 or so to get more an inch more stacks than these Levi's.

Will any tailor work? Anything to say to them? I just have to tell them to attach the original bottom hem back right?
And how much should a tailoring job like this cost? <$10?

You're a fucking dick.

The only purpose to keeping the original hem is to preserve any of the original fading or distressing that it may have had when you bought the jeans. Since we're talking about hemming a pair of unworn raws that don't have any fading/distressing, there's no point in asking your tailor to keep the original hem. Hemming is a pretty basic alteration, so any semi self-respecting professional alterations business should be able to handle it without fucking it up too badly. Cost is typically $8-$12, depending on where you are.

Just hem them, as others have said about 2" more inseam length than usual (30" -> 32" for me).

Plus, original hem is more expensive.

Alright. So original hem is not necessary.
The fit is good? I'm keeping the hem at about 31" for extra stacks. Will post back after they are hemmed.

The Levi's will stay as they are in the photo.

where'd ya get the levi's?

soak them first. odds are they will shrink 1-2 inches in length. i'm 5'6" and i wear jeans with a 36" inseam. i just feel like skinny jeans look better with more stacks.

you can always hem them further down the road, but just make sure they have been soaked first. Dtmt is being a douche, if you get your jeans hemmed without soaking them, you will end up finding a length you like, only to have them shrink becoming high-waters.

its all personal preference.
