- you have a favorite tie knot

- never mind that guy's saved millions of lives, he's buttoned the bottom button of his suit and is therefore dead to me.

- you can spot the jackass with the windsor knot from a mile away.

- you own several pocket squares.

- getting a bespoke suit made for you is on your top list of priorities in life.

- You know Victor probably works for a designer but deep down inside you'd like to think that he's an elite Russian oil billionaire mobster who gets all his suits custom made in Moscow.

Okay, maybe the last one was only me.

Is this an SF groupthink rule? Brooks Brothers seem to think it's OK to fasten the bottom button on their $1600 suits. http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...LACK&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=#null BTW how can BB be claiming 'Golden Fleece' as a registered trademark? I'm sure Apollonius Rhodius of the 3rd century BCE would have something to say about that, if he was still around.

You wish to own a pink unlined cashmere tie.

When looking at a new SC you examine buttons for functionality, material and spacing.

Pointy shoes can make you hate a man.

Fused chest/collar/cuffs are the devils own work.

Your $300 shoes are your "beater" pair.

"go-to-hell" green/red/pink/turquoise pants are normal everyday summer pants

standing up, your chinos are at your ankles - rolled or naturally short

So because BB does it on their clothes model it makes it OK to do it normally? It's hardly "groupthink", it was originally done by King Edward VII, and I do not believe he was a SF member.

A major UK menswear retailer.

Every suit both buttons done up.

From what I've seen most people either do both or none, although not many people wear suits around here, except during Spring Festival. Some wear blazers though.

He probably wasn't a member a member of SF, I don't think SF was actually around over 100 years ago. ;) Surely fashions and styles have changed somewhat since his time?

Although I agree that the bottom button should never be done up, the reference to Edward VII pertains to waistcoats, not suit jackets or sport-coats, and even then it's veracity is debatable.

How bad it looks when doing up the bottom button of a coat also depends how the coat is cut. With the BB coat above both buttons are placed on the center-front, so it doesn't look too bad when they are both buttoned, but with many coats the second button is placed away from the center-front because of the way the quarters open up below the first button; when this type of coat has both buttons done up it causes terrible distortion of the fit which looks awful.
