yes, this is my first proper suit so i have a lot to learn. i've always just worn slacks, shirts, and ties with no interest in having them tailored. if i had to, i've borrowed blazers to throw on. I also have experience wearing army class a uniforms, but the only alternations i ever had done to them was hemming.

Once you learn and see how things should fit, it ruins everything!

She improved the trouser a lot. The seat needs to be taken in and deepened and it will clean up the rest. very minor work.

I would have taken in the back part at the top of the outseam and let out the waist the same amount at the center back seam but I don't think that matters now. Get the seat reshaped and deepened.

i already know what you mean. i'm addicted to learning, so i've been trying to take in as much information as i can through forums, blogs, websites, asking people, and observations. i've even caught myself inspecting men's clothes for their style and fit more than i should.

not to be funny, but to be clear the seat needs to be taken in and deepened where? like... underneath so it's follows the body shape better? this korean lady is actually retiring in two weeks, so i'm going to have to find another if i don't get to her soon enough. my korean mother could probably fix it if she still had her sewing things, but i'm sure she could refer one of her friends.

May I ask, how much you paid for the partial recutting alteration? My pants generally also have the ripple problem. I tried Despos' method by pulling the back of my pants a little bit, and the ripples disappeared. Since it is a partial recutting work, I assume it is expensive.

This puckering can happen anywhere there's a seam which is why good suits are frequently pressed while being made and then sewn together carefully and flat.

it's a ben sherman suit i purchased off overstock.com. cost of tailoring included, i ended up spending a little less than retail probably. i think i still won though, because tailoring is a requisite even if i would've bought any rtw suit at retail.icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

the first tailor charged $22 for the apparently needless taper, $22 to hem, and $35 to reduce the waist. the woman who actually fixed the pants charged $17 to reshape the seat and $8 to hem. i don't believe any material was actually cut. it looks like all she had to do was undo the seam, and she sewed it tighter to eliminate the extra fabric.
