Today I saw in a vintage boutique a fairly narrow floral tie labled "Liberty of London for Target." I thought - how very odd; what a strange combination. Could Liberty possibly have produced ties for a chain such as Target, and would Target be selling any Liberty ties.... The pattern sort of looked Liberty but it said 'made in china." Were Target ties every made in China?
Let's say somehow someone was able to fake a Liberty of London tag; surely Target could be counted on not to sell it - right? Could the Target label be fake - why would anyone fake a Target label? One might as well print "cheap" on the label. If there was a period - say 20 years ago - when Liberty was actually producing ties for Target, it doesn't seem they would be "made in China.."
So what do you think is or was going on here? Narrowness of tie implies to me either from many years ago, such as in the '60s, or very recent - part of the skinny tie trend. But would Liberty be following that trend?
