Perhaps YOU can help...

I am an absolute rookie when it comes to this whole "style" thing as I've just learned I've been a victim of the "rack" for the last 27 years lol. I am excited however to develop new sense of style. I've been doing some digging and discovered there's actually a difference between style and fashion (yeah im that new lol) and I'm excited to begin this new exploration.

Ive emptied my closet, fixed the idea that clothes are an investment securely in mind, and I'm excited to begin building a killer wardrobe piece by piece. However I'm somewhat unsure where to start?

I am a 27 year old entrepreneur and I want to wear clothes that reflect that, however I'm not too excited about wearing "timeless suits" everyday. Aside from a nice collection of dark wash denim does anyone have any suggestions as to where my next purchases should be? Any insight will help!

Excited to hear from you all,

LivingInStyle

Unfortunately and probably talking to a former member now, that's how it often is on the forum. The correct terms for the task include "stylist" and "image consultant," with probably the latter right because business dress seems to be involved. For someone close to an ideal build (average or moderately tall, neither skinny nor fat), good fit usually can be learned from pictures, including here and clothing catalogs. Other elements of style aren't as easy to quickly learn. Hence the existence of professionals. Anyway, nobody could have helped much, because of a lack of pictures, location, budget, etc.

Peasant status - fuck tailored clothes, I had a bespoke womb made up for me from day one.

There's nothing wrong with 'off the rack'. Some of my favorite clothing items of all time (dare I call them 'pieces') have come off the clearance rack or from shitty secondhand vintage stores.

By far the most important thing, in terms of 'style', 'fashion', and generally looking good, is fit. That term, as one can see from some of the terribly dressed people in the WAYW threads, is more important then spending boatloads of cash on exorbitantly expensive items of clothing. Size down until it's too small, then go one size up. Done.

Otherwise, wear what you want.

Fashion is part of style. Everything is in context.

Stop worrying about what's "style" and what's "fashion", and start thinking about what you like and what might suit you.
