The examples posted on the website look pretty damn awful.

They began as a costume maker for DCPA and the Central City Opera. If you want a period costume, it could be interesting. They do not make what I would consider MTM or bespoke business suits.

A better Colorado option:

Hi,

I have never posted on here before, though I have sometimes been a lurker.  I just noticed this thread when googling the business.

I work with A.J. and the gang as a tailor, and I thought I would correct some of the information above.

It is true that we had a sewer working with us for awhile that used to work for Opera Colorado and the Central City Opera and, in fact, this is excellent experience for making custom clothing that is truly custom versus basic business suits that are all on the same template and can all be sewn in the same order with the same techniques.

It is also quite true that many of our pieces are period inspired and include details that no other modern suits have.

But A.J.'s background is in cultural studies, critical theory, and fashion and he holds degrees in these fields from Harvard and Columbia University, and has studied at the Pratt Institute as well.

Lianna (his business partner) studied fashion design and couture sewing at Pratt and designed at every level of the industry in NYC for 10 years including high end couture and a brand for Liz Claiborne.

So describing us as DCPA folk isn't quite right.

On the other hand, we mainly make suits for younger customers in tech and other creative fields and reflect a pretty free-flowing concept of dress.  The suits can be retro or a bit punk, but are rarely conservative business suits.  We specialize in making items that other tailors can't or won't make rather than in standard business attire.

So I wouldn't disagree with the above notion that our suits aren't exactly MTM business attire, although many customers wear our suits for business in specific fields where individuality matters more than what is standard or proper.

Since I live in Denver, I want more quality options here, but it looks like they're geared towards costume pieces and not what most would consider bespoke. Anyone who knows anything about fine clothing probably won't take them seriously after looking at the website. Maybe they make an amazing soft shoulder garment but you'd never know from the pictures on the site because nothing looks like classically trained tailor made it. If you're looking for a custom Steampunk suit, they can probably make it happen.

I can personally recommend Evan DeLaney.

SlamMan, do you have any pictures of your Evan DeLaney piece? I'm in the Springs and have been debating giving him a call, but the lack of a gallery or any sort of base pricing on his website has given me some pause - I don't want to waste his time if I don't like his aesthetic.
